Inleiding
Het kleine, buiten de bebouwde kom, op een binnendijkse talud van de Lekdijk staande TRANSFORMATORGEBOUW is waarschijnlijk gebouwd in 1922 toen Ameide werd aangesloten op de electriciteitscentrale van Dordrecht. Het trafohuisje is gebouwd in opdracht van het Gemeentelijk Electriciteitsbedrijf Dordrecht (G.E.B.D.) naar ontwerp van een niet met naam bekende architect (ingenieur) van het G.E.B.D. Het in een aan het Neo-Classicisme verwante bouwstijl opgetrokken gebouwtje is één van de laatste van een aantal vergelijkbare, in dezelfde periode gebouwde transformatorhuisjes in de regio.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond, in schone en gepleisterde baksteen opgetrokken transformatorhuisje. Het met de voorzijde op de Lek georiënteerde huisje heeft een onderbouw van schone baksteen, een betonnen plint en een bovenbouw van gepleisterde, door middel van grotendeels liggende schijnvoegen verlevendigde, wit geschilderde bovenbouw met een plat dak met brede, iets uitkragende dakranden. De hoeken van het gebouwtje worden geaccentueerd door eveneens door middel van schijnvoegen gelede lisenen. Symmetrische voorzijde met boven de plint staande, rechtgesloten stalen deur onder een verdiept in de pleisterlaag aangebrachte lineaire versiering. De gevel wordt beëindigd door een fronton met sluitsteen en een aan de onderzijde open timpaan. Onder het timpaan de vermelding G.E.B.D.. Blinde zijgevels met een iets bredere onderbouw van schone baksteen, afgedekt door een grijs geschilderde betonnen plint. Achterzijde met in de onderbouw een stalen deur en een ontluchtingsrooster. In de verder blinde achtergevel van de bovenbouw eveneens een ontluchtingsrooster. Het huisje is aan de voorzijde met de kruin van de dijk verbonden door middel van twee betonnen verbindingsmuurtjes.
Waardering
Het transformatorhuisje is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische en de architectuurhistorische waarde.
- Het gebouwtje heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als een bijzondere uitdrukking van de geschiedenis van de electriciteitsvoorziening in ons land in het algemeen en van die in de regio Dordrecht in het bijzonder.

Introduction
The small TRANSFORMER BUILDING, situated outside the built-up area on an inland slope of the Lek dike, was probably built in 1922 when Ameide was connected to the electricity power station of Dordrecht. The transformer house was built on the instructions of the Municipal Electricity Company Dordrecht (G.E.B.D.) to the design of an architect (engineer) of the G.E.B.D. whose name is not known. The small building, constructed in a style related to Neo-Classicism, is one of the last of a number of comparable transformer houses built in the same period in the region.
Description
Transformer house constructed from a rectangular floor plan in fair-faced and plastered brickwork. The building, with its front facing the Lek, has an understructure of fair-faced brickwork, a concrete plinth and an upper structure of plastered, enlivened for the most part by lying false joints, white painted upper structure with a flat roof with broad, slightly projecting eaves. The corners of the building are accentuated by lisenes also articulated by means of false joints. Symmetrical front with above the plinth a squared-off steel door under a linear ornament set back into the plaster layer. The facade is terminated by a pediment with keystone and a tympanum open at the underside. Below the tympanum the inscription G.E.B.D.. Blind side facades with a slightly broader understructure of fair-faced brickwork, topped with a grey painted concrete plinth. Rear side with in the understructure a steel door and a ventilation grill. In the further blind rear facade of the upper structure also a ventilation grill. The house is connected on the front to the crest of the dike by means of two concrete connecting wall sections.
