PARKAANLEG, bestaande uit: a. huiseiland, b. oprijlaan , c. achterbos, d. zijbos en e. weilanden. a.: het rechthoekige huiseiland, in oorsprong zeventiende eeuw of ouder, dat circa tachtig meter ten zuiden van de Epemawei ligt, is geheel omgracht en bereikbaar via de oprijlaan en het asymmetrisch geplaatste poortgebouw (zie onder 3); aan de buitenzijde van de gracht een singel van linden (binnenzijde) en eiken (buitenzijde); naast een erfverharding van grind is er aan de voorzijde van het huis (noord) een neogeometrische rozenparterre, vierde kwart negentiende eeuw; verder is er naast en achter het huis een nieuwe bescheiden aanleg in de trant van Roodbaard. b.: de oprijlaan, zeventiende eeuw of ouder, loopt vanaf de Epemawei in een rechte lijn naar het poortgebouw; laan en poort zijn niet gecentreerd op het midden van het huis; de laan heeft een puinverharding en heeft aan weerszijden een enkele rij linden; aan het begin een inrijhek (zie onder 5). c.: het rechthoekige achterbos heeft zijn huidige vorm gekregen in het begin van de twintigste eeuw; het werd toen ingericht als rozentuin met een padenkruis, dat in het midden de vorm van een ellips kreeg; slechts vage sporen resteren, onder andere twee korte stukken lindelanen ten oosten en westen van de ellips; in het weiland achter het bos is in de jaren negentig van de twintigste eeuw een vijver gegraven met bosrand op basis van de verdwenen Roodbaard-aanleg. d.: ten westen van de gracht ligt een nieuw ingeplante boomgaard en in het stukje bos ten westen van de oprijlaan zijn mogelijk de resten gevonden van de middeleeuwse stinswier, de voorganger van Epemastate e.: de weilanden en gronden direct ten westen, zuiden en oosten van het stateterrein

PARK LAYOUT, consisting of: a. house island, b. drive, c. rear woodland, d. side woodland and e. meadows. a.: the rectangular house island, originally seventeenth century or earlier, which lies approximately eighty metres south of the Epemawei, is completely moated and accessible via the drive and the asymmetrically placed gatehouse (see under 3); on the outside of the moat a border of linden trees (inner side) and oaks (outer side); alongside a gravel surface there is on the front of the house (north) a neo-geometric rose parterre, fourth quarter nineteenth century; furthermore alongside and behind the house there is a new modest layout in the manner of Roodbaard. b.: the drive, seventeenth century or earlier, runs from the Epemawei in a straight line to the gatehouse; drive and gate are not centred on the middle of the house; the drive has a rubble surface and has a single row of linden trees on either side; at the beginning an entrance gate (see under 5). c.: the rectangular rear woodland acquired its present form at the beginning of the twentieth century; it was then laid out as a rose garden with a path cross, which in the middle took the form of an ellipse; only faint traces remain, including two short sections of linden-tree avenues to the east and west of the ellipse; in the meadow behind the woodland a pond was dug in the nineteen-nineties of the twentieth century with woodland edge based on the vanished Roodbaard layout. d.: to the west of the moat lies a newly planted orchard and in the piece of woodland to the west of the drive the remains of the medieval stinswier, the predecessor of Epemastate, may possibly have been found. e.: the meadows and lands directly to the west, south and east of the estate grounds
