Inleiding
Omstreeks 1865 gebouwd woonhuis van het type HERENHUIS. Het heeft de stijlkenmerken van het Eclecticisme en is een karakteristiek voorbeeld van een woonhuis voor welgestelden uit het derde kwart van de negentiende eeuw. Het met de voorgevel op het water van de Korte Mare georiënteerde huis is een onderdeel van een gesloten gevelwand.
Het pand maakt deel uit van het beschermde stadsgezicht.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken woonhuis met twee bouwlagen onder een met pannen gedekt afgeknot schilddak.
Vier-assige, gefrijnde, gepleisterde gevel boven een tegen de onderdorpels van de vensters staande, doorgetrokken hardstenen plint. Getoogde gevelopeningen op de begane grond. Gekoppelde profiellijsten met kuiven rondom bovenramen met geprofileerde kalven. Drie T-vensters, de linker met glas-in-lood met diagonale roedenverdeling in alle ramen, de andere twee en de deur alleen diagonale roeden in de bovenramen. Onder een geprofileerd kalf staande paneeldeur met profielranden rond panelen met afgeronde hoeken in de tweede travee.
Verdieping met T-vensters (schuiframen) met geprofileerde wisseldorpels en op consoles met acanthusblad motieven steunende grijze onderdorpels. Bovenkant van de vensters in de vorm van een brede schouderboog. Rond de bovenkant van de vensters een profiellijst in de vorm van een samengestelde fantasieboog met in de boogtrommels naar elkaar gekeerde mannen- en vrouwenkopjes in hoog-reliëf. Samengestelde gevellijst (entablement) voorzien van spaarvelden met profielrand tussen neo-barok vormgegeven consoles die een geprofileerde kroonlijst ondersteunen. In het voorste dakschild een houten dakkapel met in oorsprong zinken wangen, houten vleugelstukken met voluten, openslaand venster en een fronton met diepliggend timpaan. Vóór de gevel een hardstenen stoep en een van kettingen en ijzeren kettinghouders en octogonale hardstenen stoeppalen voorziene erfscheiding.
Waardering

Description
Residential house built from a rectangular floor plan with two storeys under a hipped roof covered with tiles.
Four-bay, grooved, plastered facade above a through-going hardstone plinth standing against the lower sills of the windows. Arched window openings on the ground floor. Coupled mouldings with cymas around upper windows with moulded stringcourses. Three T-windows, the left one with leaded glass with diagonal glazing bars in all windows, the other two and the door only diagonal glazing bars in the upper windows. Below a moulded stringcourse a panel door with moulded edges around panels with rounded corners in the second bay.
First floor with T-windows (sash windows) with moulded alternating sills and grey lower sills resting on consoles with acanthus leaf motifs. Top of the windows in the form of a broad shoulder arch. Around the top of the windows a moulding in the form of a composite fantasy arch with male and female heads facing each other in the arch drums in high relief. Composite facade moulding (entablature) provided with spandrels with moulded edges between neo-baroque formed consoles supporting a moulded cornice. In the front roof section a wooden roof dormer with originally zinc sides, wooden wing pieces with volutes, casement window and a pediment with recessed tympanum. Before the facade a hardstone stoop and a boundary fence provided with chains and iron chain holders and octagonal hardstone bollards.
Valuation
The townhouse dating from 1865, largely well preserved as to exterior, is of general importance due to its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value as a characteristic example of an eclectic residential house of the well-to-do for the building period and function.
