Inleiding
Een ouder WINKELWOONHUIS 'De Blauwe Ster' met een winkelpui uit omstreeks 1895 in neo-renaissance-trant met nagenoeg in oorspronkelijke staat verkerend winkelinterieur voor rookwaren uit circa 1910, dat waarschijnlijk in opdracht van M.J. Steeneveld door de plaatselijke aannemer M. de Jong is uitgevoerd. Het pand is tot 1968 als sigarenwinkel in gebruik gebleven. Het woongedeelte aan de achterzijde is omstreeks 1980 gemoderniseerd en voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang.
Het pand ligt binnen het beschermd dorspgezicht en is beeldbepalend gesitueerd in de zuidelijke iets gebogen gevelwand van de met lindenbomen beplante Voorstraat.
Omschrijving
Een gedeeltelijk onderkelderd pand, bestaande uit één bouwlaag op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een aan de voorzijde afgewolfd mansardedak met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen met de noklijn haaks op de straat. De linker zijgevel, opgetrokken uit rode baksteen, is waarschijnlijk 17de-eeuws.
De opgetrokken voorgevel is opgetrokken uit grauwe baksteen in fijngevoegd kruisverband, waarbij deur en vensters, respectievelijk worden gedekt door een strek en rollagen. Pleisterwerk is toegepast voor de plint en een onder de verdiepingsvensters doorlopende sierband.
De voorgevel is een lijstgevel (met houten hoofdgestel) met op de begane grond rechts een paneeldeur met bovenlicht. Links daarvan een houten winkelpui in Neo-Renaissance-stijl met links een eenruitswinkeldeur met bovenlicht en rechts een winkelruit. In het bovenlicht, dat kepervormig is afgedekt, is vaag een geschilderde blauwe ster te zien en de tekst: '.../ P. Steen(e)veld'. De etalageruit heeft eveneens een kepervormige afsluiting. De borstwering is voorzien van geglazuurde tegels met geperste geometrische Jugendstilmotieven.
Op de verdieping zijn twee T-schuiframen symmetrisch over de gevel verdeeld.
Interieur Op de begane grond bevindt zich in het voorste gedeelte het oorspronkelijke winkelinterieur met tegen de zij- en achterkanten houten etalagekasten, deels uitgevoerd met laden, deels met schuifdeuren. De eikenhouten opstand van de etalage is opgeslagen. De stijlen zijn uitgevoerd als gecanneleerde pilasters. Tegen één van de kaststijlen aan de linkerzijde bevindt zich een koperen gasaansluiting.
Waardering
Het woonwinkelpand is van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch belang als representatief en gaaf voorbeeld van een klein woonwinkelpand uit eind van de 19de eeuw met een winkelinterieur uit omstreeks 1910. Dergelijke relatief kleine, doch gave, woonwinkelpanden in dorpen hebben een relatief hoge zeldzaamheidswaarde.
Het pand is stedebouwkundig van belang omdat het beeldbepalend gesitueerd is in de Voorstraat en gelegen is binnen het beschermde dorpsgezicht.

Introduction
An older SHOP-DWELLING HOUSE 'De Blauwe Ster' with a shop front dating from circa 1895 in neo-renaissance style with a shop interior for tobacco goods from circa 1910 remaining in almost original condition, which was probably carried out on the commission of M.J. Steeneveld by the local contractor M. de Jong. The building remained in use as a cigar shop until 1968. The residential section at the rear was modernised around 1980 and is of subordinate importance for protection.
The building is located within the protected village prospect and is prominently situated in the southern slightly curved facade wall of the Voorstraat, which is planted with lime trees.
Description
A partially cellared building, consisting of one storey on a rectangular floor plan beneath a mansard roof at the front with a curved line and with damp-coursed Dutch tiles with the ridge line at right angles to the street. The left side gable, constructed from red brick, is probably from the 17th century.
The constructed front facade is built from grey brick in fine-jointed cross bond, whereby door and windows are respectively covered by a stretcher and roll-laying. Plasterwork is applied for the plinth and a decorative band running below the first-floor windows.
The front facade is a cornice-topped facade (with wooden main structure) with on the ground floor on the right a panelled door with fanlight. To the left of it a wooden shop front in neo-renaissance style with on the left a single-glazed shop door with fanlight and on the right a shop window. In the fanlight, which is covered in a herringbone pattern, a faintly painted blue star can be seen and the text: '.../ P. Steen(e)veld'. The window display also has a herringbone pattern closure. The breast wall is provided with glazed tiles with pressed geometric Art Nouveau motifs.
On the first floor two T-sash windows are symmetrically distributed across the facade.
Interior On the ground floor in the front section is the original shop interior with wooden display cabinets against the side and rear, partly fitted with drawers, partly with sliding doors. The oak uprights of the display are stored. The stiles are executed as fluted pilasters. Against one of the cabinet stiles on the left side there is a copper gas connection.
Valuation
The shop-dwelling building is of general cultural and architectural-historical importance as a representative and intact example of a small shop-dwelling building from the end of the 19th century with a shop interior from circa 1910. Such relatively small yet intact shop-dwelling buildings in villages have a relatively high rarity value.
The building is of urban planning importance because it is prominently situated in the Voorstraat and is located within the protected village prospect.
