The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

The LONG-GABLE FARMHOUSE Latestraat 11 dates from around 1875 and is situated at the edge of the old arable soils west of Netersel. The property is situated at a short distance from the public road. The ridge direction is broadly parallel to the street.

Description.

The single-storey farmhouse has a broadly rectangular floor plan and is covered by a thatched half-hipped roof with old Dutch tiles on the front and Mulden tiles on the rear. At the foot old Dutch tiles. The brick gable has a plastered plinth. The southern street gable is, except for the divided doors on the left part, provided with a tooth moulding. On the eastern side is the dwelling house, which in the street gable is provided with a non-clamped front door with geometrically divided fanlight, flanked on both sides by a twenty-pane sash window with clamped shutters. In the northern side gable, with scaffolding holes, a four-pane opening window has been installed. In the rear gable the position of a cellar window with grille bars and two above-lying six-pane sash windows indicate the position of cellar and upper chamber.

The business section is accessible via a broad clamped carriage entrance under an oak lintel and, to the left of it, a pair of clamped divided doors in the front gable. In the western side gable are 3 stable windows and a window (in the position of a hay hatch). The rear gable has along the full length of the business section a shallow outbuilding under a lean-to roof. This probably dates from around 1930. The gable end of the outbuilding, on the side of the dwelling house, is provided with a door with 6 panes and, to the north of it, a privy. On the roof of the outbuilding a small chimney. In the south-western corner of the rear yard stands a small single-storey barn with a rectangular floor plan, with reed-thatched walls and a lean-to roof with improved Dutch tiles. In front of the dwelling house a tiled step. The red tiles were replaced some years ago with pavement tiles over the full length of the front gable. The site planting includes two pollard linden trees in front of the dwelling house, a walnut tree at the east gable and a row of hornbeams along the western boundary.

Valuation.

The farmhouse is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical importance as an example of the socio-economic development of agriculture in the Kempen and as an example of the typological development of the long-gable farmhouse in the late 19th century. From an architectural and building-historical perspective it is important because of the austere architectural language and the building history, which is the materialization of the development of agriculture since the 19th century. The whole is important because of the integrity of its exterior and interior and the coherence between main and outbuildings which give a good picture of a simple multi-unit farmhouse. The whole is intact and as such rare.
