Inleiding Rij

Introduction Row

HOUSES belonging to the complex consisting of three rows of houses of type J, J1 and J2, was built in 1947-1948 on behalf of the Management of the Wieringermeer department of Noordoostpolderwerken. This department was also responsible for the design and construction of the three rows of houses. The houses were built in a sober building style related to the Delft School. This row of houses (of type J1) is the middle one of the three and has, compared to the other houses, a different detailing. Over the years various modifications to the exterior and interior have taken place, which were mainly intended to improve living comfort. Extensions (sculleries and showers) were added at the rear. The original appearance of the houses on the street side has not been significantly affected.

Description

The middle row of four houses with house numbers 13, 15, 17 and 19 has a front facade with a symmetrical layout. The houses are on the ground floor provided with windows placed within a concrete frame with renewed frames and wooden doors, standing within a simple brick frame, with the exception of one, original doors under semicircular fanlights with radial glazing bars. On the upper storey per house four windows standing under roller shutters with likewise renewed frames. The facade edge is enlivened by means of decorative brick bonding. Both the northern and the southern end facade are connected to an intermediate section with a gateway passage. The houses have on the rear facade on the ground floor a larger room window and a smaller kitchen window. The doors to the garden are respectively in a larger shared shed with gabled roof for nos. 15;17, and in the gateway buildings with the attached sheds for nos. 13 and 19. The upper storey contains per house a larger and a smaller window with likewise modified frames. The interior and the rear facade of the houses are of secondary importance for the protection.

Valuation
