Inleiding
De gietijzeren ophaalbrug is in 1877 gebouwd door de Maatschappij IJzergieterij De Prins van Oranje uit 's Gravenhage, zoals vermeld staat op het voetstuk van beide stijlen van de brug. In 1996 is door Strukton Staalbouw het bovenwerk (sprieten, middenbalk, broekbalk en balans) gedeeltelijk vernieuwd en is de brug geëlectrificeerd. Een klein bordje met de naam van deze firma en het jaartal is op de zuidelijke stijl aangebracht.
Omschrijving
De OPHAALBRUG uit 1877 over de rivier de Angstel vormt de verbinding tussen de Rijksstraatweg en de Brugstraat in Baambrugge. De brug rust op gemetselde landhoofden met natuurstenen blokken op constructief belangrijke punten. Het bredere westelijke landhoofd met hekwerk is in de rivier uitgebouwd en heeft een toogvormige lage waterdoorgang. De ophaalbrug bestaat uit een tweetal gietijzeren stijlen, die een opengewerkte gietijzeren hamei dragen. Op de hamei staat aan beide zijde het jaartal 1877 vermeld. De balans van het bovenwerk bevindt boven het westelijk landhoofd. De sprieten zijn door middel van kettingen verbonden met het uiteinde van de val of klap, die op het oostelijk landhoofd neerkomt. Op het voetstuk van beide stijlen is de naam van de ijzergieterij aangebracht.

Description
The LIFTING BRIDGE from 1877 over the river Angstel forms the connection between the Rijksstraatweg and the Brugstraat in Baambrugge. The bridge rests on masoned abutments with natural stone blocks at structurally important points. The lifting bridge consists of two cast-iron piers which carry an open-worked cast-iron beam. On the beam the year 1877 is marked on both sides. The braces are connected by means of chains to the end of the falling or opening part, which descends onto the eastern abutment. On the base of both piers the name of the ironworks is placed.
