Inleiding
HERENHUIS, gebouwd in 1907 naar ontwerp van P.J. Houtzagers in opdracht van de familie Wefers Bettink in Traditionalistische stijl.
Omschrijving
Eindwoning van huizenrij aan de noordwestzijde van de Maliebaan op rechthoekige plattegrond met souterrain, twee bouwlagen en samengestelde kap, gedekt met geglazuurde rode kruispan. De voorgevel is gepleisterd als imitatie natuursteen en heeft een met natuursteen bekleed basement. De gevel heeft drie traveeën met een onregelmatige breedte, het linker deel is opgetrokken tot trapgevel. Hierin is de rondboogvormige ingang gelegen, hierboven een uitgebouwde erker met tentdak. Rechts van de erker terugliggende tweede bouwlaag over de verdere gevelbreedte. Het hierdoor ontstane terras wordt afgesloten met een stenen balustrade. De rechtertravee wordt afgesloten met daklijst, daarboven een dakkapel met trapgeveltje. Diverse soorten houten vensters met glas-in-lood bovenlichten.
Verdere decoraties ondermeer met sierankers en bekroning van trapgevel links met schilddrager in de vorm van een leeuw.
Plattegrond met centrale hal waarom heen de diverse vertrekken gegroepeerd zijn.
Waardering
Herenhuis van algemeen belang vanwege architectuurhistorische waardeg als goed voorbeeld van een in traditionalistische stijl opgetrokken woonhuis van de hand van architect P.J. Houtzagers. Voorts van stedenbouwkundig belang als karakteristiek onderdeel van historisch gegroeid stedelijk gebied met voorname herenhuizen.

Description
End house of a row of houses on the north-west side of the Maliebaan on a rectangular ground plan with basement, two storeys and composite roof truss structure, covered with glazed red pantiles. The front facade is plastered as imitation natural stone and has a basement clad with natural stone. The facade has three bays of irregular width, the left part is constructed up to a stepped gable. The round-arched entrance is located in it, above it a projecting bay with hipped roof. To the right of the bay a recessed second storey over the remaining facade width. The resulting terrace is enclosed with a stone balustrade. The right bay is closed off with a cornice, above it a dormer window with a stepped gable. Various types of wooden windows with glass-in-lead fanlights.
Further decorations include ornamental wall anchors and a finial of the stepped gable on the left with a shield-bearer in the form of a lion.
Ground plan with central hall around which the various rooms are grouped.
