Inleiding
Dubbel HERENHUIS ("Mariënhof", nrs 3;3a;3b en "Mariënweerd" nr 4) gebouwd in 1910 in Traditionalistische stijl, aan de achterzijde gelegen aan het Willemsplantsoen.
Omschrijving
Breed, onderkelderd dubbelpand, van twee bouwlagen en platte kap met dakschilden aan vóór- en achterzijde, opgetrokken in baksteen, natuursteen, hout, geglazuurde baksteen en deels v.w.b. de laatste geleding van de lichtrisalerende zijdelen van de gevel bekleed met daktegels en deels beschoten top. De voorgevels van beide huizen zijn ten opzichte van elkaar gespiegeld en ieder drie traveeën breed waarvan de buitenste een tot puntgevel opgetrokken hoekrisaliet is. Eerste bouwlaag met ieder in het middendeel een ingangspartij met deur onder houten afdak en met glas-in-lood boven- en zijlichten en stenen stoep, daarnaast een inpandig gelegen balkon met stenen borstwering, waaronder keldervensters. De vensters in de gehele gevel zijn afwisselend kruis-, klooster en schuifvensters, het merendeel met luiken, alle met natuurstenen lateien en onderdorpels, boven de inpandige balkons komt een puibalk rustend op sleutelstukken voor. Boven de ingangen vierlichts bovenlichten, twee ingemetselde gevelstenen "Marienweerd" en "Mariënhof". Middendeel van de gevel wordt beëindigd met brede houten gootlijst op consoles, daarboven twee dakkapellen met vierstrooksvenster.
De derde geleding van de hoekrisalieten zijn uitgerust met twee zoldervensters met bovenlicht, belegd met rode daktegels en uitkragende beschoten geveltop.
Achtergevels aan Willemsplantsoen ook gespiegeld, nu met tot dubbele steekkap opgetrokken middenrisaliet en lagere zijvleugels van twee bouwlagen. Geveldetaillering conform gevel Mariahoek met extra toevoeging van balkons voor middendeel en stores boven de vensters. Interieur Mariahoek 4 met ondermeer monumentale entree-hal, trappenhuis met lantaarn en op de begane grond en de verdiepingen stucplafonds en diverse schouwen. Alle vensters en deuren met originele kozijnen.
Waardering
Dubbel HERENHUIS van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als goed en gaaf voorbeeld van een dubbel woonhuis, opgetrokken in traditionele stijl. Tevens vanwege de stedenbouwdige waarde vanwege de situering aan zowel de Mariahoek als het Willemsplantsoen.

Wide, cellared double building of two storeys and flat roof with roof slopes on front and rear, constructed in brick, natural stone, wood, glazed brick and partly with regard to the last articulation of the light-projecting side sections of the facade clad with roof tiles and partly finished with boarding. The front facades of both houses are mirrored in relation to each other and each three bays wide, of which the outer bays form corner risalits rising to pointed gables. First storey with each in the central section an entrance arrangement with door under wooden canopy and with leaded glass fanlights and sidelights and stone stoop, next to it an internal balcony with stone balustrade, below which cellar windows. The windows throughout the facade alternate between cross windows, cloister windows and sash windows, the majority with shutters, all with natural stone lintels and sills, above the internal balconies a corbel beam resting on keystones. Above the entrances four-light fanlights, two built-in gable stones "Marienweerd" and "Mariënhof". The central section of the facade is terminated with broad wooden eave moulding on consoles, above which two dormers with four-pane window.
The third articulation of the corner risalits is equipped with two attic windows with fanlight, covered with red roof tiles and projecting finished gable top.
Rear facades on Willemsplantsoen also mirrored, now with double roof slope rising in the central risalit and lower side wings of two storeys. Facade detailing conforming to the Mariahoek facade with additional addition of balconies for the central section and blinds above the windows.
