Klinkerstraat 21 Grave
Inleiding
Dit aan twee zijden ingebouwde WOONHUIS is gelegen in de oude kom van Grave. De rijk geornamenteerde gevel dateert uit omstreeks 1905, maar het huis heeft een oudere kern. De lokaal bekende dokter Kanters liet deze gevel in eclectische stijl ter vervanging van een classistische lijstgevel bouwen. Het pand is gelegen binnen het beschermde stadsgezicht Grave.
Beschrijving Het in vergelijking met de aangrenzende gevels relatief hoge huis telt twee bouwlagen en een zolderverdieping. Het afgewolfde zadeldak is gedekt met oud Hollandse pannen. De straatgevel is hoger opgetrokken dan de borstweringen van de kap, waardoor het pand twee-en-een-halve bouwlaag lijkt te hebben. Deze gepleisterde gevel van drie vensterassen heeft een hardstenen plint. Vensteromlijstingen en banden zijn uitgevoerd in rode baksteen. De indeling van de gevel is bijna symmetrisch: Op de begane grond bevindt zich aan de rechterzijde een voordeur, met ter linkerzijde een tweetal getoogde vensters. Op de etage zijn drie rondboogvensters, en op de zolderverdieping drie vierkante vensters geplaatst. De voordeur bestaat uit een vleugelpaneeldeur in Art-Nouveau-stijl, met smeedijzeren deurroosters, een twaalfruits boven- licht en een omlijsting met gecanneleerde kolommen en een kroonlijst. De T-openslaande vensters hebben op de etage een achtruits bovenlicht. Op de begane grond is de indeling deels vereenvoudigd. Bovendien hebben de bovenlichten hier twaalf ruiten. Op de zolderverdieping zijn kleine openslaande vensters met vierruits bovenlichten geplaatst. De boogtrommels van begane grond en etage zijn gevuld met een baksteen mozaiek. Bijzonder is het tegeltableau in de centrale boogtrommel op de etage: hier is de Griekse god voor de geneeskunde, Asklepeios, afgebeeld.

Introduction
This dwelling house, built in on two sides, is located in the old centre of Grave. The richly ornamented facade dates from circa 1905, but the house has an older core. The locally well-known doctor Kanters had this facade built in eclectic style to replace a classical cornice-topped facade. The property is located within the protected townscape of Grave.
Description The house, relatively high compared with the adjoining facades, has two storeys and an attic storey. The half-hipped gabled roof is covered with old Dutch tiles. The street facade is raised higher than the parapets of the roof, giving the property the appearance of two-and-a-half storeys. This plastered facade of three window bays has a hardstone plinth. Window surrounds and bands are executed in red brick. The organisation of the facade is almost symmetrical: On the ground floor there is a front door on the right-hand side, with two arched windows on the left-hand side. On the first floor are three round-arched windows, and on the attic storey three square windows are placed. The front door consists of a multi-panel door in Art Nouveau style, with wrought-iron door grilles, a twelve-pane fanlight and a surround with fluted columns and a cornice. The T-opening windows have on the first floor a rear-pane fanlight. On the ground floor the organisation is partly simplified. Furthermore, the fanlights here have twelve panes. On the attic storey small opening windows with four-pane fanlights are placed. The arch vousoirs of ground floor and first floor are filled with a brick mosaic. Distinctive is the tile tableau in the central arch voussoir on the first floor: here the Greek god of medicine, Asklepeios, is depicted.
