PARSONAGE with attached CATECHESIS ROOM, belonging to the Dutch reformed church situated in front of it which is already a national monument (monument number 33816). The parsonage was erected in 1890 in an eclectic style and replaced an older parsonage from 1755. The catechesis room dates from 1871 and was built in a craftsman-traditional building style. Among other things, in the sixties of the twentieth century the building underwent some alterations. In particular the passage that connected the parsonage with the catechesis room was then closed off. Originally there was a conservatory attached to the parsonage.

The complex is beautifully situated on the main line of the municipality of Slochteren, on the corner with the Juffertorenweg. The parsonage is accessible via a drive, to the left of the church, and the catechesis room via a path to the right of the church. Description

PARSONAGE on an almost square plan, consisting of facades with block plasterwork on a plastered timber frame. The double hipped roof, covered with black glazed Frisian corrugated tiles, is enclosed by a cornice. The main entrance is located centrally in the front facade (northwest) in a continuous gable section with a pitched roof and decorative wind vanes. The entrance consists of a framed, double panelled door with cast-iron door panels beneath a arched fanlight. Above the entrance a wooden balcony with a railing of wood and iron; in front of the balcony two paired basket-arch-shaped glass doors (renewed), which together with the diamond-patterned fanlight form a basket arch; on either side of the doors plastered pilasters, in blocks with rustication. On either side of the entrance are two T-windows with arched fanlight beneath a narrow plastered eyebrow arch with keystone. The southwest facade has one T-window; the northeast facade two T-windows, two six-pane windows and two two-pane cellar windows with burglar bars, all beneath an incised arched string course. In the rear facade (southeast) are four six-pane windows with incised string course and French windows (not original) beneath a fanlight.

On the southwest side is the attached CATECHESIS ROOM, constructed in reddish-brown brick. The half-hipped roof, covered with black Dutch tiles, has a moulded gutter and on the ridge a masonry chimney and a wooden weathervane. The gabled end has a cornice, "supported" by four masonry pilasters. In this facade (southwest) only the three arched iron seed windows are original. The side facades are articulated by pilaster strips, connected by a dental frieze. The northwest facade has five six-pane windows beneath a string course and the southeast facade one six-pane window, a door (renewed) and two French windows (not original).

The INTERIOR falls outside the protection as it has been too extensively altered.
