Inleiding
FOSFORIETMAALDERIJ, gebouwd in 1918 in opdracht van de firma Van Vlisteren & Schoemaker uit Deventer. De firma hield zich bezig met het graven naar en het verwerken van fosforiet. Zij richtte deze maalderij op in Ootmarsum in de nabijheid van het kanaal Almelo-Nordhorn waar de fosforieten, een grondstof voor kunstmest, gewassen werden en verscheept naar Agelerbrug. Later werd het gebouw eigendom van het expeditiebedrijf Van der Maas. Daarna van de Algemene Boeren en Tuinders Bond, die hem als opslagloods in gebruik nam. Vervolgens werd de loods eigendom van de Coöperatieve Aan- en VerkoopVereniging, een onderdeel van de ABTB. Typologisch is deze zwart geteerde loods verwant aan de werfgebouwen op Zuid-Hollandse scheepswerven. Tegen de rechterzijgevel bevindt zich een niet beschermde aanbouw die als kantoor fungeert. Tussen dit kantoor en de loods is een kalkzandstenen brandkeermuur aangebracht. De loods bevindt zich tegenover de molen van Ootmarsum (monumentnummer: 31765).
Omschrijving
De voormalige maalderij bestaat uit een houtskelet van zeven traveeën dat staat op blpoeren en een bakstenen plint. Het gebouw heeft een afgeknot zadeldak, gedekt met Tuiles du Nord. Alle gepotdekselde gevels zijn zwart geteerd.
De gevel aan de kant van de Oldenzaalsestraat (W) is geopend in verband met de opslagfunctie. In de geveltop is een verticaal beschot aangebracht. In de zijgevels zijn paarsgewijs twaalf grote 24-ruits vensters aangebracht.

Introduction
PHOSPHATE MILL, built in 1918 on commission of the firm Van Vlisteren & Schoemaker from Deventer. The firm was engaged in the excavation and processing of phosphate. It established this mill in Ootmarsum in the vicinity of the canal Almelo-Nordhorn where the phosphates, a raw material for artificial fertiliser, were washed and shipped to Agelerbrug. Later the building became the property of the forwarding company Van der Maas. Subsequently it became the property of the General Farmers and Gardeners' Association, which used it as a storage shed. Subsequently the shed became the property of the Cooperative Purchase and Sales Association, a division of the ABTB. Typologically this black-tarred shed is related to the shipyard buildings on South Holland shipyards. Against the right-hand side gable there is an unprotected extension that serves as an office. Between this office and the shed a calcium silicate brick firewall has been erected. The shed is situated opposite the mill of Ootmarsum (monument number: 31765).
Description
The former mill consists of a timber frame of seven bays standing on posts and a brick plinth. The building has a truncated gabled roof, covered with Tuiles du Nord. All rendered facades are black-tarred.
The facade on the side of the Oldenzaalsestraat (W) is open due to the storage function. In the gable top vertical boarding has been installed. In the side gables twelve large 24-pane windows are arranged in pairs.
