Omschrijving
Inleiding
Hanrath in rustiek traditionalistische stijl. Springer in landschapsstijl.

Description
Introduction
VILLA DE BEEMD, built in 1919 according to the design of architect J.W. Hanrath in rustic traditionalist style. The villa, which is located in the rural area, is surrounded by a very large garden of approximately 3 hectares which was designed in 1919 by L.A. Springer in landscape style. The villa is located on an elevation which arose when the pond for the house was dug. The client for this project was J.M. Matthijsen.
Description
The villa has a rectangular ground plan and has a total of four storeys, three of which are under the roof. The roof is a deflected reed gabled roof. The gutter rests on rounded wooden consoles. The facades are built from machine-made brick.
The top two storeys are covered on the front and rear sides with weatherboard wood. The front facade faces the garden and has in the centre the front door in a projecting section. The door consists of an under- and an over-panel. On both sides is a three-light side-light placed. To the right of this is a bay window with angled sides, on the corner a double six-pane window. To the left of the door section are two six-pane windows and on the corner a double six-pane window.
Above the door is a balcony with wooden parapet installed, with door and three-pane side-lights. On either side of this, placed slightly higher, a double six-pane window. On the next floor are three double four-pane windows, on the attic storey there is a double two-light window.
The rear facade is entirely symmetrical in layout. On the ground floor are three coupled six-pane windows, on the first floor two coupled six-pane windows, above those two coupled four-pane and on the attic floor two single-pane windows.
The side facades have in the roof plane two dormers under a lean-to roof. The side facing the drive has, among other things, a door, which provides access to the scullery. The part below the kitchen is undercellared. The other side facade has open French doors and a veranda.
The interior was between 1960 and 1980 almost entirely carefully refurbished in keeping with the style. In the smoking room, to the left of the front facade, is the original dark wooden wainscoting.
Next to the kitchen, in the rear facade, is a pantry with built-in cupboards.
The landscape park that surrounds the house is more or less rectangular in layout, whereby the house with its substantial gabled end is brought into relation with the park by means of sight lines on the main facades of the street and garden sides. The rear facade is reflected in a pond of irregular ground plan.
Valuation
The villa with landscape park is of general importance. The whole has cultural historical values as an example of the geographical and socio-economic development of Helmond as an industrial city, in particular the emergence of wealthy manufacturer villas in the green surroundings of a villa park. It is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the manufacturer country estate. The country house is of architectural historical importance as an example of a work of architect Hanrath deliberately inspired by simple rural architecture. The whole has ensemble values because of the relationship of the extremely simple house to the large-scale country house garden in the green surroundings of the villa park on the Aarle-Rixtelseweg. The whole has been well preserved.
