Kleine Joodse BEGRAAFPLAATS MET BETONNEN OMMURING en zes liggende GRAFZERKEN, gelegen aan de Hearekeunst, binnen het beschermde gezicht Workum. Voor zover bekend is de begraafplaats, die indertijd in gebruik was bij de Joodse gemeenschappen van Workum en Hindeloopen, gesticht in 1664. Zij zou daarmee de oudste Joodse begraafplaats in Friesland zijn. Oorspronkelijk was de begraafplaats omringd door een haag, thans door een eenvoudige 20ste-eeuwse (jaren dertig) betonnen muur met stalen deur, waarop een Davidsster. Op de begraafplaats liggen nog 6 natuurstenen grafzerken, waarvan de oudste uit 1676.
Waardering
Joodse begraafplaats met zes grafzerken en 20ste-eeuwse ommuring, van algemeen belang wegens:
- de ouderdom
- de herinnering aan de vroegere Joodse gemeenten van Workum en Hindeloopen

Description
Small Jewish CEMETERY WITH CONCRETE WALL and six recumbent GRAVESTONES, located at the Hearekeunst, within the protected townscape Workum. As far as is known, the cemetery, which was once in use by the Jewish communities of Workum and Hindeloopen, was founded in 1664. It would thus be the oldest Jewish cemetery in Friesland. Originally the cemetery was surrounded by a hedge, now by a simple 20th-century (1930s) concrete wall with steel door, bearing a Star of David. On the cemetery there are still 6 natural stone gravestones, the oldest dating from 1676.
