Inleiding
BIOSCOOP City, in opdracht van de heer Uitenbroek in 1940 gebouwd. Door de Zakelijk Expressionistische bouwstijl vormt het pand een opvallende verschijning in de gevelwand. Het interieur is geheel in de oorspronkelijke staat bewaard
Omschrijving
Rechthoekig pand onder plat dak, opgetrokken in rode machinale baksteen. De symmetrische voorgevel heeft links en rechts zeer ondiepe risalieten. Centraal geplaatste terugliggende entree onder een luifel. Boven de entree groot, licht hellend aankondigingsbord met daarboven drie smalle vensters met twee natuurstenen blokken, daarboven tegen de gevel de naam "City". Het middelste geveldeel is hoger en bevat in de daklijst vier natuurstenen blokken. Aan weerszijden van de entree horizontale drieruits vitrines. Daarboven aan iedere zijde drie kleine vierkante vensters tussen lisenen op hardstenen klossen. De lisenenlopen door boven de vensters en eindigen in hardstenen blokken met daartussen drie keperboogvormige vensters. In de bovenste gevelvlakken een vlaggenstok en een klein venster.
Bijzonder gaaf ongewijzigd, interieur met onder andere een hangend betonnen balkon, houten lambrizeringen, beschilderde wanden en plafond en de oorspronkelijke stoelen.

Bioscoop van algemeen cultuur en architectuurhistorisch belang:

BIOSCOOP City, built in 1940 on behalf of Mr Uitenbroek. By virtue of its Functionalist Expressionist building style, the building presents a striking appearance in the facade. The interior has been preserved entirely in its original state.
Description
Rectangular building under flat roof, built in red machine-made brick. The symmetrical front facade has very shallow risalits on the left and right. Centrally placed recessed entrance under a canopy. Above the entrance large, slightly sloping sign board with above it three narrow windows with two natural stone blocks, above which the name "City" appears against the facade. The middle facade section is higher and contains in the eaves line four natural stone blocks. On either side of the entrance horizontal three-light display windows. Above these on each side three small square windows between pilasters on hard stone plinths. The pilasters run through above the windows and end in hard stone blocks with between them three herringbone-arch-shaped windows. In the upper facade sections a flagstaff and a small window.
Particularly well-preserved and unaltered, interior with among other features a suspended concrete balcony, wooden wainscotting, painted walls and ceiling and the original seats.
