Inleiding
De als stellingmolen uitgevoerde achtkante molen met de naam 'De Hoop' is in 1996-1997 in opdracht van de Harderwijkse Molenstichting gebouwd en ingericht als korenmolen. Bij de bouw van deze molen werden het onderachtkant en het bovenachtkant gebruikt van een te Oldenzaal afgebroken korenmolen. Deze molen stond aldaar van 1913 tot 1993. Van 1779 tot 1913 stond deze molen te Weesp, laatstelijk als korenmolen 'Het Anker'. De molen staat hier in Harderwijk op een opvallende plaats aan de Vissershaven.
Omschrijving
Het staande werk van de molen bestaat uit een gemetselde bakstenen achtkante voet op een kelder, een houten onderachtkant, een houten bovenachtkant met stelling en een houten kap. De uit zes bouwlagen bestaande molen is vanaf de stenen voet tot de duisplanken bekleed met potdekselwerk van houten delen en daarboven, inclusief de kap, bedekt met riet. De kap kruit op een Engels kruiwerk. De molen is ingericht als maalvaardige korenmolen. Hij is voorzien van een gietijzeren bovenas en stalen roeden die zijn voorzien van fokwieken.
Waardering
De molen is van algemeen belang:

The eight-sided timber-framed mill named 'De Hoop' was built in 1996-1997 on commission of the Harderwijkse Molenstichting and fitted out as a flour mill. Description
