Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The property forms part of the ensemble of buildings of the old village centre of the former village of Sloterdijk, in particular the N.H. Petruskerk with churchyard and the associated buildings namely the parsonage and the consistory room. The property was originally built as a sexton's and gravedigger's dwelling. This whole is enclosed by a retaining wall on which is a fence. The first archival records concerning the property date from 1831. It can be assumed that the property dates from the early 19th century. The function of gravedigger's dwelling is reflected in its location in relation to the churchyard, which is directly accessible via the door in the west facade. The rear room was therefore used, apart from as living space, also as a mourning room. The property was completely restored in the 1990s and made suitable for contemporary habitation.
Description
Former gravedigger's and sexton's dwelling dating from the first quarter of the 19th century located directly on the churchyard south of the Petruskerk. The property is partly constructed in timber on a rectangular plan and has one storey under a high ridge covered with tile gabled roof between gable ends. Halfway up the ridge stands a stone chimney, which relates to the only stone internal wall/firewall of the house. Below both parts of the building is a small cellar. The western gable end borders directly on the churchyard. The facade is plastered and provided with false joints, centrally an original panelled door with fanlight flanked by eight-pane sash windows with lightly curved top. At the top a glazing-bar roof window and small ornamental wall anchors. A second door is located in the non-symmetrically divided south facade, in which besides the door there are also five windows, namely two sixteen-pane sash windows, two twelve-pane sash windows and next to the door also a sixteen-pane sash window. This facade is constructed in timber with horizontal cladding. This was renewed during the restoration. The eastern gable end is likewise plastered and has only two small windows, of which the one on the ground floor is still original. Here too small ornamental wall anchors. The plastered north facade has a division with two doors and three windows, one twelve-pane and two sixteen-pane sash windows. Internally the simple beam layer with a quarter-round bead moulding, the stone firewall with cavities and at the rear with the smoke channel and two beam cavities are still present. Otherwise the layout and finish of the interior have been renewed during the restoration.
Valuation
The former sexton's and gravedigger's dwelling is of general importance because of the architectural and cultural-historical values, because of its historical-functional relationship with the N.H. church and the churchyard and as an example of building in traditional-craft manner. Externally visually complete with material renewals during restoration. Internally some components preserved. The dwelling has ensemble value in relation to the old village centre of Sloterdijk in general and to the N.H. church and churchyard in particular.
