Inleiding
Voormalige KOSTERIJ van de Nederlands hervormde gemeente van Beemster, in eclectische trant gebouwd rond 1880 ten zuiden van de 17de-eeuwse Nederlands hervormde kerk. Het object staat aan de oostzijde van de Middenweg en wordt hiervan door een ijzeren tuinhek gescheiden.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwde kosterij, annex gemeenschapshuis bestaande uit twee bouwlagen onder dwars schilddak met zwarte Hollandse pan. Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in rode baksteen boven een uitgemetselde en bepleisterde plint en wordt aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een omgaand hoofdgestel.
De symmetrische voorgevel (W) wordt door vier geblokte lisenen verdeeld in drie traveeën: een centrale travee ter breedte van een vensteras en elk een flankerende travee ter breedte van twee vensterassen. De centrale travee heeft op de parterre een dubbele paneeldeur met getoogd bovenlicht. Deze deur heeft een geprofileerde omlijsting met kuifstuk. Op de verdieping heeft de centrale travee een getoogd zesruits schuifvenster. Verdieping en parterre worden in de centrale travee gescheiden door een profiellijst. Het verdiepingvenster wordt tot de wisseldorpel geflankeerd door een uitgemetseld gevelvlak met profiellijst. Het verdiepingvenster heeft een wenkbrauw die aansluit op de genoemde profiellijst. De centrale travee wordt afgesloten door een driehoekige houten fronton met rozet.
De flankerende traveeën hebben getoogde zesruits schuifvensters met wenkbrauwen op consoles.
De rechterzijgevel (Z) is blind. De linkerzijgevel (N) heeft drie vensterassen, op beide bouwlagen voorzien van zesruits schuifvensters identiek in vorm en omlijsting aan die in de voorgevel. De rechter as (W) op de parterre heeft een paneeldeur met bovenlicht. De achtergevel heeft onregelmatig geplaatste zesruits schuifvensters en paneeldeuren.

Former sexton's house of the Dutch Reformed congregation of Beemster, built in eclectic style around 1880 south of the 17th-century Dutch Reformed church. The object is located on the east side of the Middenweg and is separated from it by an iron garden gate.
Description
Sexton's house built on a rectangular ground plan, combined with a community hall consisting of two storeys under transverse hipped roof with black Dutch tiles. The masonry is built in red bricks above a mortared and plastered plinth and is closed off at the top by an encircling main frame.
The symmetrical front facade (W) is divided by four blocked pilasters into three bays: a central bay the width of one window axis and each a flanking bay the width of two window axes. The central bay has on the ground floor a double panelled door with arched fanlight. This door has a moulded surround with cornice. On the first floor the central bay has an arched six-light sash window. First floor and ground floor are separated in the central bay by a moulded line. The first floor window is flanked down to the water gutter by a mortared facade section with moulded line. The first floor window has an eyebrow moulding that connects to the aforementioned moulded line. The central bay is closed off by a triangular wooden pediment with rosette.
The flanking bays have arched six-light sash windows with eyebrow mouldings on consoles.
The right side facade (S) is blank. The left side facade (N) has three window axes, on both storeys provided with six-light sash windows identical in form and surround to those in the front facade. The right axis (W) on the ground floor has a panelled door with fanlight. The rear facade has irregularly placed six-light sash windows and panelled doors.
Assessment
Former sexton's house in eclectic style with associated garden gate of general importance on account of architectural and cultural historical value as a well-preserved example of 19th-century architecture. The object has ensemble value as part of the 19th-century development on both sides of the Middenweg.
