Description

Stolp-barn built on an almost square floor plan under a thatch-covered hipped roof with surrounding border of black Dutch tiles. The hipped roof has a round chimney on a square base on the front (E). The base has a stone with the year 1869.

The internal wooden supporting structure consists of a square with overhang above the dwelling (E). The masonry is built up in red brick, the wooden cross-gable is rendered. The gutters are throughout in wood. The gutter of the right side gable rests on wooden blocks. The front facade is symmetrical, has six window bays and is divided by four pilasters into three facade sections, each with two window bays. The emphasis lies on the central facade section (middle part), a top gable with triangular pediment. The middle part has two storeys under a slightly sloping, overhanging and perpendicular to the hipped roof placed saddle roof, covered with zinc. The middle part has six-pane sash windows on ground floor and upper floor. The pediment has a tympanum in red brick. Valuation

The stolp-barn Zonnehoek dating from 1869 is of general importance due to cultural and architectural historical value as a well-preserved example of mid-19th-century barn construction in the Beemster, in which sober neo-Classical details are combined with the regional building tradition and use is made of brick for the dwelling section, wood for the barn section, a thatch stolp roof with tile border and internally a wooden square frame construction.
