Inleiding
OPHAALBRUG van het Hollandse type, genaamd 'Baanbrug', daterend uit 1881 en uitgevoerd door L.J. Enthoven & Co. te 's-Gravenhage. De Baanbrug vormt een verbinding tussen de Baanstraat en de Hoogstraat en overspant de Nieuwe Haven. De Baanbrug is beeldbepalend gelegen in het beschermde stadsgezicht van Edam en is een van de reeks stalen bruggen die de Nieuwe Haven overspannen.
Omschrijving
Enkele ijzeren ophaalbrug met handbediening door middel van achterketting. De aanloopdelen zijn samengesteld uit houten dwarsliggers met wegtapijt op stalen hoofdliggers, rustend op gemetselde landhoofden en houten jukken. Het val is samengesteld uit houten dwarsliggers met wegtapijt op ijzeren hoofdliggers met onderwindverband. De doorvaartbreedte is 6,20 meter, de doorrijbreedte is 2,88 meter. De hameipoort bestaat uit volwandige hameistijlen van geklonken delen, met schroefboutverbinding geplaatst op basementen waar de tekst: 'L.J. ENTHOVEN & Co/'sHAGE 1881' is opgewalst.
