Inleiding
Rooms Katholieke kerk "St. Gerardus Majella", gebouwd in 1906 naar ontwerp van de Amersfoortse architect Herman Kroes in traditionalistische stijl met neogotische elementen.
Glas-in-lood in het koor van H.J. de Vos, glasschilder te Utrecht.
In 1922 is de kerk uitgebreid naar ontwerp van Jos. Cuypers (Roermond), ook diens zoon Pierre was betrokken bij de bouw. In 1923 is de Mariakapel gebouwd en de begraafplaats met kruis ingericht, afkomstig uit het atelier van Cuypers en Zn. De dakruiter is in 1922 verwijderd.
In 1937 vond de tweede uitbreiding plaats naar ontwerp van H.J. Bakx uit Groningen, waarbij ook de pastorie werd uitgebreid. Tegen de westgevel is bij deze ingreep een (orgel)balkon aangebracht.
De veranderingen van de jaren '60 zijn in deze kerk terughoudend uitgevoerd.
In 1996 is een nieuwe dakruiter naar oorspronkelijk ontwerp teruggeplaatst.
De bescherming betreft het hoofdvolume, detaillering van gevels en het interieur, met name de altaren en de muurschilderingen (o.a. de statiën).
Oorspronkelijke klok uit 1906, gegoten door de firma Peht und Gebrüder te Gescher/Westfalen, is geschonken door een dame uit Utrecht. De ingegoten namen Arnoldus-Helena verwijzen naar haar ouders. Verder luidt de tekst: "Oosterveld en Emmerveen/Roep ik tot gebed bijeen".
Omschrijving
RK zaalkerk van drie traveeën, met gekoppelde dwarsbeuken. Opgetrokken in baksteen op een basement van zwerfkeien, het schip en narthex onder een zadeldak, de dwarsbeuken onder afgewolfde schilddaken met pironnen, alle gedekt met geglazuurde OH pannen. Op de overgang van koor naar schip op de nok een dakruiter waarin een klokkenstoel met luidklok en bekroond door een smeedijzeren kruis met vergulde weerhaan.
Entree in uitbouw met korfboogvormige archivolten. Erboven een drielicht venster. In de zijgevels van de uitbouw aan de noordzijde een spitsboogvenster en een opgeklampte deur met segmentboogvormige bovendorpel, aan de zuidzijde twee spitsboogvensters.
De absis is 5/8 gesloten. Op de hoeken hoog opgaande steunberen. Per gevel een hoog spitsboogvenster.
De kopgevels van de dwarsbeuken bepalen het zijaanzicht van de kerk. De beuken zijn met steunberen in drie maal twee traveeën verdeeld. Per travee een drielicht venster. Boven de centrale steunbeer per kapel één roosvenster. In de zijgevels van de buitenste beuken drie spitsboogvensters. In de kopgevel van de zuidoostelijke dwarsbeuk een opgeklampte deur met boogvormige bovenzijde.
Het complex bevat aan de noord- en zuidzijde uitgebouwde biechtstoelen, afgedekt met platte daken.
In de noordoosthoek de Mariakapel.
De sacristie-ruimte bevindt zich in een rechthoekig tussenlid onder zadeldak met wolfeind, dat pastorie en kerk verbindt.
Interieur
Open houten dakstoel. Spitsbogen op ronde kolommen scheiden het schip van de dwarsbeuken. Dwarsbeuken eveneens met open dakstoel en spitsbogen op de scheidingen. Koor met straalgewelf met bakstenen ribben. In de spitsboogvensters glas-in-lood. Neogotisch hoofdaltaar. Geschilderde statien. Muurschilderingen op de wanden van schip en zijbeuken. Mariakapel met neogotisch altaar en dito muurschilderingen met episodes uit het leven van Maria.
Oorspronkelijke banken en bankenplan.

Built in brick on a basement of erratic boulders, the nave and narthex under a gabled roof, the transverse aisles under half-hipped roofs with piers, all covered with glazed OH tiles. On the transition from choir to nave on the ridge a roof turret housing a bell frame with the bell and topped by a wrought-iron cross with gilded weathervane.
Entrance in an extension with basket arch archivolts. Above it a three-light window. In the side facades of the extension on the north side a pointed arch window and a clamped door with segmental arch lintel, on the south side two pointed arch windows.
The apse is 5/8 closed. Tall buttresses on the corners. Per facade one tall pointed arch window.
The gable ends of the transverse aisles define the side view of the church. The aisles are divided by buttresses into three by two bays. Per bay a three-light window. Above the central buttress per chapel one rose window. In the side facades of the outer aisles three pointed arch windows. In the gable end of the south-east transverse aisle a clamped door with arched top.
The complex contains confessionals built out on the north and south sides, covered with flat roofs.
In the north-east corner the Maria Chapel.
The sacristy room is located in a rectangular intermediate section under a gabled roof with half-hip end, connecting the rectory and church.
Interior
Open wooden roof truss. Pointed arches on round columns separate the nave from the transverse aisles. Transverse aisles likewise with open roof truss and pointed arches on the divisions. Choir with radiating vault with brick ribs. In the pointed arch windows stained glass. Neogothic high altar. Painted stations of the cross. Wall paintings on the walls of the nave and side aisles. Maria Chapel with neogothic altar and likewise wall paintings with episodes from the life of Mary.
