Inleiding
In dit pand was oorspronkelijk een BAKKERIJ gevestigd. Deze koekbakkerij, "De gekroonde Almansgading", is gebouwd in 1839 door Teunis Hissink.
Het pand is gebouwd in Neo-Romaanse stijl met een opvallende vormgeving in de vorm van een renaissance palazzo.
Het aan drie zijden vrijstaande pand ligt zeer beeldbepalend, met gevels aan het IJsselfront en aan de Grote Kerkhof, op de plaats van de oorspronkelijke Duimpoort.
Het interieur is gewijzigd, de ovens e.d. zijn verwijderd om plaats te bieden aan appartementen.
Omschrijving
Pand opgetrokken vanaf trapeziumvormige grondslag in gepleisterde baksteen over vier bouwlagen onder een schilddak met zeer flauwe helling.
De drie vrije gevels zijn gevat in een kolossale orde met hoekpilasters; de geveldelen tussen de pilasters hebben een sterk horizontale geleding. Het pand staat op een plint. Tussen de eerste verdieping en de begane grond loopt een risalerende lijst rondom; tussen de tweede verdieping en de attiek loopt een sterk overstekende kroonlijst. Deze beide lijsten lopen door over de pilasters. Op alle verdiepingen lopen waterlijsten ter hoogte van de onder- en wisseldorpels die eindigen bij de pilasters. De zijgevel telt vier vensterassen, de korte gevels twee. In iedere as op iedere verdieping een zesruits schuifvensters met rondboogvormig bovenlicht met profiellijsten. Op de begane grond heeft het pand in de noordgevel links, in de zuidgevel rechts en in de zijgevel op de as links van het midden een dubbele glasdeur.
In de noordgevel, die smaller is dan de zuidgevel, op de lijst tussen begane grond en verdieping metalen letters met de tekst "de gekroonde almansgading". In deze en in zuidgevel is in de kroonlijst de tekst "koekbakkerij" aangebracht. Aan de zuidgevel heeft het gebouw een topgevel met rondboogvenster en hijsbalk.

Property erected from a trapezoidal ground plan in rendered brick over four storeys beneath a hipped roof with very gentle pitch.
The three free facades are set within a colossal order with corner pilasters; the facade sections between the pilasters have a strong horizontal articulation. The property stands on a plinth. Between the first floor and the ground floor runs a projecting moulding all around; between the second floor and the attic runs a strongly overhanging cornice. Both these mouldings run through over the pilasters. On all floors run drip mouldings at the height of the under and sill stones which end at the pilasters. The side facade has four window bays, the short facades two. In each bay on each floor a six-pane sash window with round arch fanlight with moulded edge. On the ground floor the property has in the north facade on the left, in the south facade on the right and in the side facade on the axis left of centre a double glass door.
In the north facade, which is narrower than the south facade, on the moulding between ground floor and floor metal letters with the text "de gekroonde almansgading". In this and in the south facade the text "koekbakkerij" (cake bakery) is inscribed in the cornice. At the south facade the building has a top gable with round arch window and hoist beam.
