Inleiding
Voor de kweker Ruigrok in ambachtelijke trant gebouwde BOLLENSCHUUR uit 1906, gelegen tussen de Leidsche Trekvaart en de Molentocht. In de schuur bevindt zich een eerste steen met de inscriptie: J. Ruigrok Wz 27 april 1906.
NB De bollenschuur maakt deel uit van een complex met woonhuizen, een voormalige boerderij en andere bollenschuren die buiten de bescherming vallen.
Omschrijving
De rechthoekige bollenschuur telt twee bouwlagen onder een mansardedak met grijze bouletpannen, windveren en een makelaar. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in rode baksteen met gepleisterde speklagen en ijzeren muurankers. De zeven assen tellende langsgevels zijn zowel op de begane grond als verdieping geleed door grote rechtgesloten droogdeuren. Met het openen van de deuren regelde men aanvankelijk het droogproces in de schuur. De dubbele houten deuren zijn geheel onderin gesloten, daarboven zes ruiten (in de deuren op de begane grond) en vier ruiten (in de deuren op de verdieping). Boven de deuren en vensters segment bogen met pleisterwerk in de boogtrommels. Rollagen onder de deuren op de begane grond, houten waterdorpels op de verdieping. In de westelijke langsgevel bevindt zich een schuifdeur die dienst doet als ingang, met daarboven een hijsbalk.
In de voorgevel (noord) op de begane grond drie en in de geveltop twee deuren. In de achtergevel (zuid) en de daaraan grenzende vensterassen: kleine vensters met ijzeren kozijnen. De daklijst steekt boven de eindgevels over.
In de schuur staan de houten stellingen waarin de bollen gedroogd werden. Zoals gebruikelijk was, doen de stellingen tegelijkertijd dienst als constructie van het gebouw. Ook staat er een gepleisterde kolom met een constructieve functie.
Waardering
De uit 1906 daterende bollenschuur van de kweker Ruigrok is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als kenmerkende expressie van de bloembollencultuur, die de sociaal-economische geschiedenis van de regio sterk heeft bepaald en ook landelijk van grote betekenis is.
Het pand is tevens van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische en typologische waarden als kenmerkend voorbeeld van een bollenschuur met twee bouwlagen en een mansardedak.
Voorts is de bollenschuur van belang wegens de situationele waarde, verbonden met de oorspronkelijke functie en lokale transportroutes vanwege de ligging tussen de Leidsche Trekvaart en de Molentocht, twee vaarwegen die dienst deden als af- en aanvoerwegen van bollen, mest en andere benodigdheden. Van de bollenschuur zijn zowel het exterieur als i nterieur relatief gaaf. Relatief gave bollenschuren met daarin nog de stellingen die de constructie vormen, zijn inmiddels zeldzaam.

Description
The rectangular bulb barn has two storeys under a mansard roof with grey fireclay tiles, wind vanes and a roof ridge. The facades are built in red brickwork with plastered brick-and-tile stripes and iron wall anchors. The seven bays counting side facades are articulated on both ground floor and upper storey by large rectangular closed drying doors. By opening the doors one originally regulated the drying process in the barn. The double wooden doors are fully closed at the bottom, above them six panes (in the doors on the ground floor) and four panes (in the doors on the upper storey). Above the doors and windows segmental arches with plasterwork in the arch drums. Roll mouldings below the doors on the ground floor, wooden drip mouldings on the upper storey. In the western side facade there is a sliding door which serves as entrance, with above it a lifting beam.
In the front facade (north) on the ground floor three and in the gable apex two doors. In the rear facade (south) and the window bays adjoining it: small windows with iron frames. The roof cornice projects over the end facades.
In the barn stand the wooden racks in which the bulbs were dried. As was customary, the racks served simultaneously as the structural framework of the building. There is also a plastered column with a structural function.

The bulb barn of bulb grower Ruigrok dating from 1906 is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value as a characteristic expression of bulb-growing culture, which greatly determined the socio-economic history of the region and is also of great significance nationally.
