The register's description

HOOFDGEBOUW (Groenevecht).

Waardering

HOOFDGEBOUW van algemeen belang:

- vanwege het in oorsprong 17de-eeuwse hoofdgebouw, waarvan het exterieur thans gekenmerkt wordt door de 19de-eeuwse Empirestijl;

- vanwege de kenmerkende ligging binnen de historische aanleg;

MAIN BUILDING (Groenevecht). White rendered block-shaped main building on a T-shaped ground plan situated on entirely moated grounds. The front house with cornice-topped facade is two storeys high, standing on a natural stone plinth under a hipped roof covered with Tuile du Nord tiles. At right angles to it the rear house of one storey under a steeply pitched gabled roof covered with tiles. Against the rear side a composite outbuilding under a flat roof from the twentieth century consisting of a conservatory (early in this century), a garden room and a garage (1972). The symmetrically arranged front facade five window bays wide is constructed from a double glazed garden door under a semi-circular fanlight with venetian blinds on the ground floor and a T-window with rounded top corners and venetian blinds on the first floor. The rusticated corner pilasters and the moulded window and door surrounds in Empire style are painted yellow. In the slightly projecting central section the former entrance door at a two-step natural stone stoop, above it a balcony with wrought-iron ornamental railings between stone piers. Under a canopy the balcony doors. Centrally a roof dormer consisting of two coupled round-arched windows with corbels topped by a weather vane. The two-bay side facades (north and south) have similar windows as in the front facade, only without shutters. In the north facade of the rear house the entrance door for which a three-step stone steps with to the left of it two windows with semi-circular fanlights. In the roof slope a three-light roof dormer and a brick chimney. The south facade of the rear house has two windows with semi-circular fanlights. In the INTERIOR of significance are among others the nineteenth-century stucco ceilings, the eighteenth-century staircase with carved woodwork and the seventeenth-century tiling of the cellar.

Valuation

MAIN BUILDING of general importance:

- because of the main building dating originally from the 17th century, of which the exterior is now characterized by the 19th-century Empire style;

- because of the characteristic location within the historic layout;

- because of the functional-spatial relationship with the other components of the country estate.
