Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The FARMHOUSE with a block-shaped front wing was realised in 1909, as was the barn belonging to the object. The front wing, in Transitional architecture, is symmetrically built against the agricultural section. The farmhouse is set well back from the road. In the front garden stand two pollard lime trees (candelabrum pruning), a red hawthorn and a maple. The contemporary lime-sand brick ancillary barn on the west side of the farmhouse, the wagon shed from 1978, the loose-housing cowshed from 1982 and the silo from 1989 are of subordinate importance for national monument protection due to their limited architectural value.
Description
The front wing of one storey is realised on a square plan. The steep, truncated hipped roof is covered with slates in Maas laying. In the southern roof slope two small roof dormers under a cinched, projecting, pointed ridge roof tile, laid with slates and topped with a zinc finial. On the eastern and western roof slopes two chimneys rise from the eaves; two chimneys stand on the truncated hipped roof. The broad projecting gutter rests on decorated wooden brackets. The external brickwork consists of reddish-brown bricks on an overhanging dark-brown brick plinth with a band of quarter-round red pressed-mould bricks all around. The facades are enlivened by plastered white bands across the front and side facades, at the height of the under-, mid-, and upper window sills. Below the roof gutter is a plastered frieze with deep-relief decoration. The symmetrically arranged front facade has on either side of the projecting central section H-windows with imitation leaded-light fanlights under segmental arches of red pressed-mould bricks. The spandrel is filled with cream-coloured and partially with green-pigmented facing bricks. The central risalit contains the entrance and a brick-built cabin on the upper storey. The central risalit is built in orange-red pressed-mould bricks with quarter-round corners.
The walls of the internal porch, with a three-step natural stone step and granito floor, are fitted with a white facing brick wainscot with partially green pigment decoration and stucco panel mouldings. On the left side is a marble commemorative stone with the inscription: THIS STONE LAID BY HK. H. DAM, 20 SEPT. 1909, BORN 4 JUNE 1818. The wooden Art Nouveau panelled door, with cut glass and sidelights, still has the original copper door furniture (bell, door handle and letterbox). Above the natural stone closure of the porch are three round-arched windows with leaded light. The concrete balcony with an iron Art Déco railing of the cabin built in brickwork rests on large natural stone consoles. The double glazed balcony door has a multi-pane segmental fanlight with eyebrow arch. The cabin is closed off by a segmental arch with simple cornice and on the corners stepped-out projecting pilasters with plastered heads furnished with deep relief. In the east facade of the dwelling are two H-windows under segmental arch with a spandrel filling of facing bricks and a third window. In the west facade is an H-window under a segmental arch with spandrel filling and a two-light window above a cellar.
The barn attached to the front wing has a rectangular plan, of which the southern part has a residential function (including kitchen). The barn is built in brown bricks; the plinth is laid in steps in six courses. The barn windows are arched three-light and arched two-light. The barn is covered by a hipped roof, laid with tiles, including red unglazed curved Frisian tiles on the north slope and black glazed curved Frisian tiles on the south slope. The gutter rests on brick gutter blocks. The external brickwork of the south facade consists of brown bricks, enlivened with red coursing along the under- and upper window sills and a header band along the mid-sill of the T-windows. There is a T-window under segmental arch with spandrel in which red and yellow brick mosaic; a facade band in red and yellow stretcher course in relief brickwork. In the south-eastern roof slope of the barn is a small wooden cabin with a cinched pointed ridge roof tile topped with a zinc finial.
The interior of the front wing is structurally unchanged. In the front wing are several valuable interior components, notably the granito corridor floor and the paintwork of the corridor walls and ceilings.
