Inleiding
Het JACHTHUIS, thans woonhuis, in het Katlijker Schar behoorde toe aan de Bieruma Oostings. In 1916 lieten G.F. (Key) Bieruma Oosting en zijn zuster A.V. Bieruma Oosting een huis bouwen dat als zomerverblijf diende en als jachthuis in de herfst. Het pand ligt midden in de bossen; aan de achterzijde is een kleine tuin en een ruim grasveld. Het ontwerp in Neorenaissancestijl was van J.G. Brouwer uit Oranjewoud. Het winkelhaakvormige pand met twee trapgeveltjes kreeg de bijnaam 't Slotsje. Het lijkt in sterke mate op het woonhuis van de timmerman-rentmeester J.G. Brouwer aan de huidige Prins Bernhardweg 173. In de voorgevel van Herenwal 21 te Heerenveen bevindt zich een maskertje dat identiek is aan de twee maskers in de trapgevels van 't Slotsje. Het jachthuis is in 1991 gerestaureerd, waarbij de zgn. jachtkamer is hersteld.
Omschrijving
Het jachthuis heeft een winkelhaakvormige plattegrond. Het gebouw bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder een zadeldak met aan beide uiteinden een trapgevel; de trappen zijn gedekt met natuursteen. De bovenste trap is versterkt door een uitkragende uitmetseling op een pseudo-schraagsteentje met een maskertje in de vorm van een leeuwekop. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in bruine bakstenen op een donkerbruin trasraam met een rollaag. In de geveltoppen zijn sierankers in aasmotief aangebracht. Het woonhuis wordt gedekt door een samengesteld zadeldak belegd met zwart geglazuurde Hollandse pannen; in het zuidelijke dakschild is een kajuit met beschoten topgeveltje en voluten en een vierruitsvenster met bovenlicht; in het westelijk dakschild is een vernieuwde kajuit. Op het noordelijk en westelijk dakschild rijst uit de dakvoet een gemetselde schoorsteen met uitkragende kop waarop een betonnen afdekking. De schoorsteen is voorzien van een band met gevorkte staven en is door middel van een ankerstang aan de dakconstructie bevestigd. De bakgoot rust op eenvoudige klampen. Alle lichtopeningen zijn voorzien van versierde loodslabben. De ramen aan de zuidzijde bestaan uit vierruitsvensters met glas-in-lood bovenlichten; de onderramen kunnen worden afgesloten met luiken, waarop een zandlopermotief. In de oksel van het bouwblok is een tuindeur met glas en panelen en een glas-in-lood bovenlicht onder een klimmende strekboog. Voorts een brede houten onder- en bovendeur met glas-in-lood bovenlicht. De ingang aan de noordgevel bestaat uit een onder- en bovendeur met zesruits-bovenlicht en zijlichten bestaande uit vierruits stolpramen. De twee T-vormige stolpramen hebben een glas-in-lood bovenlicht. De oostzijde met trapgevel wordt ingedeeld door vierruits stolpramen met luiken; in de geveltop is een klein vierruits stolpvenster. De westgevel is nagenoeg blind, uitgezonderd een stolpvenster.
Van het interieur is de zgn. jachtkamer het grootste vertrek. Deze bevat ondermeer een fraaie schouw met tegeltableaus, voorstellende een bloemenvaas en steigerende paarden.
Waardering
Het voormalig jachthuis 't Slotsje van de familie Bieruma Oosting uit 1916 is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectonisch belang:
- vanwege de hoge mate van belang in het kader van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, met name als ontspanningsoord voor de adellijke bezitters,

The HUNTING LODGE, now a residential house, in the Katlijker Schar belonged to the Bieruma Oostings. In 1916, G.F. (Key) Bieruma Oosting and his sister A.V. The property is situated in the middle of the woods; on the rear side is a small garden and a spacious lawn. The design in Neo-Renaissance style was by J.G. Brouwer from Oranjewoud. The L-shaped property with two stepped gables was given the nickname 't Slotsje. It strongly resembles the residential house of carpenter-steward J.G. Brouwer at the present Prins Bernhardweg 173. The hunting lodge has an L-shaped floor plan. The building consists of one storey beneath a gabled roof with a stepped gable at each end; the steps are covered with natural stone. The uppermost step is reinforced by a projecting brick course on a pseudo-corbel stone with a small mask in the form of a lion's head. The facades are built in brown brickwork on a dark brown tuff frame with a roll course. In the gable tops are ornamental wall anchors in an interlaced motif. The residential house is covered by a composite gabled roof laid with black glazed Dutch tiles; in the southern roof slope is a dormer with boarded top gable and volutes and a four-light window with fanlight; in the western roof slope is a renewed dormer. On the northern and western roof slope rises a brick chimney from the eaves with a projecting head topped with a concrete cap. The chimney is provided with a band of forked rods and is fastened to the roof truss structure by means of a tie rod. The gutter rests on simple brackets. All light openings are fitted with decorated lead panels. The windows on the south side consist of four-light windows with leaded glass fanlights; the lower windows can be closed with shutters, on which is a hourglass motif. In the angle of the building block is a garden door with glass and panels and a leaded glass fanlight under a rising curved arch. Furthermore, a wide wooden under- and upper door with leaded glass fanlight. The entrance on the north facade consists of an under- and upper door with a six-light fanlight and side lights consisting of four-light casement windows. The two T-shaped casement windows have a leaded glass fanlight. The east side with stepped gable is divided by four-light casement windows with shutters; in the gable top is a small four-light casement window. The west facade is almost blank, except for a casement window.
Of the interior, the so-called hunting room is the largest space. This contains among other things a fine chimney piece with tile tableaux, depicting a flower vase and rearing horses.
