Inleiding
VILLA genaamd 'Beukenhof', waarschijnlijk gebouwd in het derde kwart van de 19de eeuw. De villa is opgetrokken in een eclectische bouwstijl, waarin klassieke elementen vermengd zijn met een aantal chaletachtige details. De villa staat aan de noordzijde van de Spanbroekerweg. Rond 1900 is aan de linkerzijde een serre aangebouwd. Aan de achterzijde zijn na 1940 wijzigingen aangebracht, echter zonder het monumentale karakter van het object te schaden.
N.B.: De wijzigingen van na 1940 vallen buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwde villa in symmetrisceh opzet, bestaande uit parterre, verdieping en kapverdieping, geplaatst onder een met zwarte platte Friese pan bedekt zadeldak met overstek. De kap heeft snijwerk aan gootlijsten, windveren en schoren.
De kap heeft aan de noordzijde een dakkapel met zadeldak, die als een steekkap aansluit op het zadeldak. De dakkapel is aan alle drie de zijden van de dakrand voorzien van houtsnijwerk.
Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in rode baksteen, ter decoratie afgewisseld met onder meer horizontale banden in pleisterwerk en gele baksteen.
De voorzijde (N) telt vijf vensterassen met in de centrale as de voordeur, daarboven een op consoles rustend balkon met balustrade en in het dakschild een dakkapel met overstekend zadeldak en gesneden gootlijsten en windveren. De flankerende assen hebben schuifvensters met rechthoekige wenkbrauwen. De paneeldeur die naar het balkon leidt heeft een wenkbrauw in de vorm van een Tudorboog. De hoogte van de vensters neemt naar boven toe af. De voorzijde heeft onder de kapvoet een mezzanino. Op de overgang tussen verdieping en de kapverdieping bevindt zich een brede cordonlijst. Tevens bevinden zich cordonlijsten tussen de vensterkozijnen en ter hoogte van de kapvoet.
De linkerzijde (O) telt drie vensterassen. Op de parterre bevindt zich een uit hout, rode baksteen en glas opgetrokken serre met lessenaarsdak. De verdieping heeft drie blindvenster. De geveltop van de kapverdieping heeft een getoogd zesruits venster geflankerd door kleinere vierkante vensters met vierruits roedeverdeling. Venster en blindvenster hebben alle rechthoekige wenkbrauwen, behalve het getoogde venster in het midden dat een Tudorboogvormige wenkbrauw heeft.
De rechterzijde (W) heeft op de parterre en verdieping een centraal blindvenster. Aan weerszijden van het blindvenster bevindt zich een schuifvenster. Introduction
VILLA called 'Beukenhof', probably built in the third quarter of the 19th century. The villa is constructed in an eclectic architectural style, in which classical elements are mixed with a number of chalet-like details. The villa stands on the north side of the Spanbroekerweg. Around 1900 a conservatory was added on the left side. Alterations have been made to the rear after 1940, however without damaging the monumental character of the object.
N.B.: The alterations after 1940 fall outside the protection.
Description
Villa built on a rectangular plan in symmetrical layout, consisting of ground floor, first floor and attic storey, placed under a gabled roof covered with black flat Frisian tiles with overhang. The roof truss structure has carved work on gutters, wind braces and rafters.
The roof has a roof dormer on the north side with a gabled roof, which adjoins the gabled roof as a dormer window. The roof dormer is provided with woodcarving on all three sides of the roof edge.
The brickwork is laid in red brick, alternated for decoration with, among other things, horizontal bands in render and yellow brick.
The front (N) has five window bays with the front door in the central axis, above it a balcony resting on consoles with balustrade and in the roof section a roof dormer with overhanging gabled roof and carved gutters and wind braces. The flanking bays have sash windows with rectangular eyebrows. The panel door leading to the balcony has an eyebrow in the form of a Tudor arch. The height of the windows decreases towards the top. The front has a mezzanine below the roof edge. On the transition between the first floor and the attic storey there is a broad cornice. Cornices are also located between the window frames and at the height of the roof edge.
The left side (E) has three window bays. On the ground floor there is a conservatory constructed of wood, red brick and glass with lean-to roof. The first floor has three blind windows. The gable of the attic storey has a arched six-pane window flanked by smaller square windows with four-pane glazing bars. Windows and blind windows all have rectangular eyebrows, except the arched window in the middle which has a Tudor arch-shaped eyebrow.
The right side (W) has on the ground floor and first floor a central blind window. On either side of the blind window there is a sash window. The gable of the attic storey is identical to that of the left side. The windows and blind windows all have eyebrows, identical to those of the left side.
Assessment
The villa Beukenhof is of general importance from an architectural and cultural-historical point of view as a largely well-preserved example of a prominent 19th century country house of note.
