GARDEN LAYOUT, consisting of the following components: a. carriage drive b. forecourt c. moated house island d. moated kitchen garden e. other ground ad a.: the lane runs from the Berkelaarweg to the forecourt and is oriented in a straight line to the front door of the house; course XVIII, gravel surface scattered with dark grey gravel; on either side narrow grass verge with single row of trees (maples, 1901) and low yew hedge. ad b.: the forecourt, originally XVII, is bounded by the carriage house (3), the moat and the garden wall (5) and consists partly of gravel surface (in fact extension of the lane), partly of lawn with shrub borders, in which the (new) sundial and pump (6). ad c.: the house island, XVII or older, is formed by a ring moat, for about half gently circular, but on the east and south sides more or less straight; the section of moat on the east side separates the house from the forecourt; over this moat section lies the access bridge already described in component 1; the southern moat section coincides with the northern part of the kitchen garden moat.
