Inleiding
WINKEL met BOVENWONING uit circa 1880, met een winkelpui en gaaf winkelinterieur uit circa 1900. De winkel is ontworpen in een eclectische bouwstijl met elementen uit de neorenaissance en Empire. Het hoekpand vormt de afsluiting van een rij winkels, cafés en woonhuizen in het beschermd stadsgezicht van Zwolle binnen de stadsgracht.
Omschrijving
Het pand is onderkelderd en bestaat uit twee bouwlagen met aan de voorzijde op de begane grond de winkel en daarboven een woning. Daarachter bevindt zich een langgerekt pand dat aan de achterzijde wordt afgesloten door een schuin geplaatste gevel. Het geheel wordt afgedekt door een schilddak met rode Hollandse pannen, waarin aan de voorzijde een dakkapel met fronton en wangen.
De voorgevel en de aansluitende vensteras in de rechter zijgevel zijn voorzien van pleisterwerk en hardstenen ornamenten. De zijgevel en schuine achtergevel zijn lager en gepleisterd met daarin eenvoudige rechtgesloten vensters met bovenlichten en souterrainvensters. In de voorgevel zijn het geveloppervlak van de winkel en het woonhuis verschillend gedecoreerd. Op de begane grond bevinden zich links twee deuren en rechts een etalage.
In de hardstenen winkelpui zijn houten kozijnen geplaatst, waarin rondbogen en een korfboog. De pui is geleed door pilasters, waarop blokken zijn uitgehouwen en waarin basreliëfs zijn aangebracht. De pilasters dragen een kroonlijst met consoles erin. De etalage bestaat uit een groot venster met een vierdelig bovenlicht onder een korfboog en in de portiek en de zijgevel een smal venster. De portiek naast de etalage, met daarin de deur naar de winkel, is betegeld en voorzien van een cassettenplafond. De deur heeft een rondboog bovenlicht. Achter de linker deur leidt een trap naar de woonverdieping. De deur heeft een smeedijzeren rooster en een rechtgesloten bovenlicht en is omlijst door hardstenen pilasters en een kroonlijst met blokken en knoppen. De gevel op de verdieping is gepleisterd en van schijnvoegen voorzien. Boven de rechtgesloten T-vensters zijn in basreliëf segmentbogen en sluitstenen met een diamantkop vormgegeven. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst.
In de zijgevel bevindt zich een ijzeren kelderdeur onder een segmentboog waarop nog enkele woorden te lezen zijn: "Koperslagerij, reparatie aan alle pompen (...) sanitair - gas - water (....) achter".
Van het winkelinterieur zijn onder meer de houten wandkasten bewaard gebleven. Pilasters onder zware consoles in empirestijl zijn geplaatst onder een kroonlijst met weer andere consoles. Tussen de pilasters bevinden zich de kasten onder gedrukte bogen met sluitstenen. Verder is sprake van rolwerk en rozetten. Het plafond is voorzien van houten cassettes in driehoeken en andere diagonale vormen.
Waardering
De winkel en bovenwoning zijn van algemeen architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang vanwege:

SHOP with FLAT ABOVE dating from circa 1880, with a shop front and intact shop interior from circa 1900. The shop is designed in an eclectic building style with elements from Neo-Renaissance and Empire. The corner building forms the end of a row of shops, cafés and residential buildings in the protected townscape of Zwolle within the town moat.
Description
The building is cellared and consists of two storeys with the shop on the ground floor at the front and above it a dwelling. Behind this is a long narrow building closed at the rear by an obliquely positioned facade. The whole is covered by a hipped roof with red Dutch tiles, in which at the front is a roof dormer with pediment and ornaments.
The front facade and the adjoining window band in the right side facade are provided with rendered work and sandstone ornaments. The side facade and sloping rear facade are lower and rendered with simple straight-headed windows with fanlights and basement windows. In the front facade the facade surface of the shop and the residence are decorated differently. On the ground floor there are two doors on the left and on the right a display window.
In the sandstone shop front wooden frames are placed, in which are round arches and a basket arch. The front is articulated by pilasters, on which blocks are carved and in which bas-reliefs are applied. The pilasters carry a cornice with consoles in it. The display consists of a large window with a four-part fanlight under a basket arch and in the portico and side facade a narrow window. The portico next to the display window, with the door to the shop, is tiled and provided with a coffered ceiling. The door has a round arch fanlight. Behind the left door a stair leads to the residential storey. The door has a wrought-iron grille and a straight-headed fanlight and is framed by sandstone pilasters and a cornice with blocks and buttons. The facade on the upper storey is rendered and provided with false joints. Above the straight-headed T-windows segmental arches and keystones with diamond head are formed in bas-relief. The facade is finished with a cornice.
In the side facade is an iron cellar door under a segmental arch on which a few words can still be read: "Coppersmith's, repair to all pumps (...) sanitary - gas - water (....) rear".
Of the shop interior, among other things, the wooden wall cupboards have been preserved. Pilasters under heavy consoles in Empire style are placed under a cornice with other consoles. Between the pilasters are the cupboards under pressed arches with keystones. Furthermore there is scroll work and rosettes. The ceiling is provided with wooden coffering in triangles and other diagonal forms.
