Inleiding
OPHAALBRUG over het Hunsingokanaal, genaamd Zuidema's klap, die getuige het jaartal in de hameipoort in 1879 is geconstrueerd. Enkele onderdelen van de brug zijn na de Tweede Wereldoorlog vernieuwd. Deze betreffen het brugdek, de landhoofden en de pijlers van de vaste brugdelen.
De naam van de brug verwijst naar de familie die tot 1966 op de ernaast gelegen boerderij woonde; klap is het Groningse woord voor ophaalbrug. De Zuidema's klap is gelegen in de Kanaalweg die vroeger het gehucht Panser met het dorp Niekerk verbond. Het Hunsingokanaal, waarvan het gedeelte tussen Ulrum en Zoutkamp in 1858 is aangelegd, zorgde voor een binnenlandse scheepvaartverbinding van Winsum naar Zoutkamp.
Omschrijving
OPHAALBRUG bestaat uit een beweegbaar deel met hameipoort en twee vaste delen. Hameipoort bestaat uit twee gietijzeren hameistijlen die door een ijzeren balk met I-profiel met elkaar worden verbonden; hameistijlen zijn versierd met cannelures en acanthusbladeren; in hoeken van hameipoort versieringen van smeedijzer; schoren van ijzer. Balans van ijzer met in midden in versierde gietijzeren plaat jaartal 1879; ballast eveneens van ijzer. Leuningstijlen van beweegbaar brugdeel zijn van hout en van vaste brugdelen van ijzer. Vernieuwd brugdek bestaat uit houten planken die gelegen zijn op ijzeren balken. Landhoofden en pijlers van vaste brugdelen zijn vernieuwd. Aan zuidwestzijde van brug staat lierinstallatie voor ophalen van de brug.

Introduction

Description
BASCULE BRIDGE consists of a moveable part with bascule frame and two fixed sections. Bascule frame consists of two cast iron bascule posts which are connected to each other by an iron beam with I-profile; bascule posts are decorated with fluting and acanthus leaves; in corners of bascule frame decorations of wrought iron; braces of iron. Balance beam of iron with in the middle a decorated cast iron plate with date 1879; ballast also of iron. Handrail posts of the moveable bridge section are of wood and of the fixed bridge sections of iron. Renewed bridge deck consists of wooden planks which rest on iron beams. Abutments and piers of fixed bridge sections have been renewed. On the south-west side of the bridge stands a winch installation for raising the bridge.
