MUZIEKTENT, gebouwd in 1926 naar het ontwerp van H.F. Symons in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School en gesitueerd op de open ruimte op de zuidhoek van de Torenlaan en de Dorpsstraat.
Omschrijving
Muziektent, opgetrokken ter hoogte van een bouwlaag op hoekige U-vormige plattegrond, zich openend naar het noordwesten. De uit vertikale en horizontale houten delen samengestelde muziektent staat op een stenen basement met stenen trap met drie treden aan de noordwestzijde die geflankeerd wordt door rechthoekige hoge stenen bloembakken. Aan de voet van elke bloembak bevindt zich ter hoogte van het basement een U-vormige bloembak. De schelp van het klankbord wordt aan de voorzijde (NW) ondersteund door twee taps toelopende houten zuilen, boven en onder getorst, die staan op de geknikte houten wand tussen de rechthoekige bloembakken aan de noordwestzijde en de halfronde bloembakken aan de zuid- en oostzijde. Het rieten dak is aan de voorzijde uitgevoerd als afgerond schilddak, aan de achterzijde als concaaf gekromd, tuitvormig mansardedak. De daklijn wordt geaccentueerd door ballonvorsten. Decoratief uitgevoerde elementen zijn voorts de rond gemetselde geveldelen aan de zuid- en oostzijde waarboven het dak twee maal welft, de bovenste welving afgewerkt met hout, en het halfronde houten stuk als afwerking van het silhouet ontstaan door het samenkomen van de halfronde bloembak, de lage geknikte houten wand en de gebogen arm van de steunen onder de schelp van het klankbord. De muziektent is uitgevoerd in de kleuren groen, wit en rood.

De muziektent is van algemeen belang uit cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch alsmede typologisch oogpunt als zeldzaam en gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een muziektent uit de eerste helft van de 20ste eeuw naar ontwerp van H.F. Music pavilion, erected at the height of one storey on an angular U-shaped ground plan, opening towards the northwest. The music pavilion, composed of vertical and horizontal wooden parts, stands on a stone basement with a stone staircase with three steps on the northwest side which is flanked by rectangular high stone flower boxes. At the foot of each flower box, at the height of the basement, there is a U-shaped flower box. The shell of the sounding board is supported on the front (NW) by two tapered wooden columns, thrust above and below, which stand on the bent wooden wall between the rectangular flower boxes on the northwest side and the semicircular flower boxes on the south and east side. The thatched roof is executed on the front as a rounded hipped roof, on the back as a concavely curved, spout-shaped mansard roof. The roofline is accentuated by balloon finials. Decoratively executed elements are furthermore the roundly mortared gable sections on the south and east side above which the roof vaults twice, the uppermost vault finished with wood, and the semicircular wooden piece as a finish of the silhouette created by the meeting of the semicircular flower box, the low bent wooden wall and the curved arm of the supports under the shell of the sounding board. The music pavilion is executed in the colours green, white and red.
Valuation
The music pavilion is of general interest from a cultural and architectural-historical as well as typological point of view as a rare and well-preserved example of a music pavilion from the first half of the 20th century after the design of H.F. Symons in the manner of the Amsterdam School. Moreover, the music pavilion has situational value because of its location on the open space on the southern corner of the Torenlaan and the Dorpsstraat.
