Omschrijving
De kloostergang is nagenoeg geheel omsloten door een rand van bijgebouwen. Tegen de zuidelijke kloostergang zijn dit respectievelijk de KAPITTELZAAL en een kleine KAPEL.
De KAPITTELZAAL is gevestigd in een rechthoekig bouwvolume in het verlengde van het kerkgebouw, toegankelijk via de toren tussen kerk en kapittelzaal. Het pand is over twee bouwlagen opgetrokken in rode machinale baksteen met rode sierbanden onder een met leien (maasdekking) gedekt zadeldak. Op het dak staan enkele dakkapellen en een dakruiter.
Zuidelijke gevel met links op de begane grond drie spitsboogvensters met bakstenen traceringen en glas-in-lood invulling. Verder zijn in de gevel op de begane grond en de verdieping zesruits vensters geplaatst. Enkele vensters op de begane grond bevinden zich onder een spitsboogfries.
De door A. Vosman ontworpen meubilering is volledig aanwezig.
De KAPEL ligt volledig inpandig en is opgetrokken in sobere baksteen architectuur
Langs de westelijke kloostergang ligt de BOEKBINDERIJ. Hier wordt dezelfde sobere neogotische architectuur aangetroffen met machinale baksteen met donkere gekleurde banden. Siermetselwerk onder de goten. Het met leien gedekte schilddak heeft enkele kapellen.
De noordzijde was oorspronkelijk afgesloten met een muur. Hier is in 1938/’39 een afsluitende kloostergang gebouwd met dwars daarop de REFTER, die zich dan ook als een uitstekend deel aan het rechthoekige bouwblok manifesteert. Het gebouw is rechthoekig met een kelder en één hoge bouwlaag waarop een met pannen gedekt zadeldak. Aan de noordgevel is een kleine kapel uitgebouwd waarboven een achtzijdig torentje. De bakstenen gevels worden geleed door steunberen waartussen zich steeds twee gekoppelde vensters bevinden. De vensters hebben natuurstenen blokjes als aanzet van de getoogde bovenzijde en zijn gevuld met glas-in-lood.
Langs de oostvleugel ligt de SACRISTIE. Deze is bereikbaar via de noordelijke zijkapel van het koor van de kerk. Ook deze vleugel heeft twee bouwlagen en een zadeldak met leidekking in sobere neogotische stijl. Het interieur is sober uitgevoerd.
Waardering
De kloostergebouwen bestaande uit KAPITTELZAAL, kleine KAPEL, BOEKBINDERIJ, REFTER en SACRISTIE zijn van algemeen cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang:
- als onderdeel van het eerste en enige Cisterciënzer klooster dat boven de grote rivieren gebouwd is
- als ontwerp van G. te Riele
- vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur en interieur

Description
The cloister is almost entirely enclosed by a ring of outbuildings. Against the southern cloister these are respectively the CHAPTER HOUSE and a small CHAPEL.
The CHAPTER HOUSE is located in a rectangular building volume in the extension of the church building, accessible via the tower between church and chapter house. The building is built over two storeys of red machine-made brick with red decorative bands under a slate-covered (Meuse bond) gabled roof. On the roof are several dormers and a roof tower.
Southern façade with on the left on the ground floor three pointed-arch windows with brick traceries and stained glass filling. Further, six-light windows have been placed in the façade on the ground floor and the upper storey. Some windows on the ground floor are located under a pointed-arch frieze.
The furnishings designed by A. Vosman are fully present.
The CHAPEL is entirely built within the structure and is constructed in austere brick architecture.
Along the western cloister lies the BOOKBINDERY. The same austere neo-gothic architecture is encountered here with machine-made brick with dark coloured bands. Decorative brickwork under the cornices. The slate-covered hipped roof has several dormers.
The north side was originally closed off with a wall. Here in 1938/'39 a closing cloister wing was built with the REFECTORY running transversely across it, which thus manifests itself as a projecting element on the rectangular building block. The building is rectangular with a basement and one high storey topped with a tile-covered gabled roof. A small chapel is built out on the north façade with an octagonal small tower above it. The brick façades are articulated by buttresses between which two coupled windows are always present. The windows have natural stone blocks as voussoirs of the arched top and are filled with stained glass.
Along the eastern wing lies the SACRISTY. This is accessible via the northern side chapel of the choir of the church. This wing also has two storeys and a slate-covered gabled roof in austere neo-gothic style. The interior is executed plainly.
Valuation
The convent buildings consisting of CHAPTER HOUSE, small CHAPEL, BOOKBINDERY, REFECTORY and SACRISTY are of general cultural, architectural and urban historical importance:
- as a component of the first and only Cistercian convent built above the major rivers
- as a design by G. te Riele
- because of the integrity of the exterior and interior
