Inleiding
Fontein, in 1884 opgericht ter ere van de schrijfsters Betje Wolff en Aagje Deken. De fontein stond oorspronkelijk op het Betje Wolffplein.
Omschrijving
Geheel gietijzeren fontein met vierkante sokkel, band met afgeronde hoeken met bladmotieven en daarop een kleiner vierkant gedeelte en aan één zijde tableau met tekst. Daarop een grote schaal met voet. De schaal is aan de buitenzijde gedecoreerd met onder meer een eierlijst en bladwerk. Aan de rand van de schaal waterspuwende leeuwekoppen. In het midden van de schaal een bewerkte balustervormige bekroning, eveneens met leeuwekoppen.

Fontein van algemeen belang vanwege cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde en van waarde vanwege gaafheid. n

Description
Entirely cast-iron fountain with square base, band with rounded corners with leaf motifs and upon it a smaller square section and on one side a panel with text. Upon it a large basin with foot. The basin is decorated on the exterior with amongst other things an egg-and-dart moulding and foliage. At the rim of the basin water-spouting lion heads. In the middle of the basin a worked baluster-shaped finial, likewise with lion heads.
Valuation
Fountain of general importance by reason of cultural and architectural historical value and of value by reason of integrity.
