Inleiding
In 1925 tot stand gekomen voormalig KANTINE en OPSLAGGEBOUW. Ontworpen in opdracht van de gemeente Amsterdam door de Dienst der Publieke Werken. Het plan werd op 11 augustus 1924 door de directeur PW ingediend. Oorspronkelijk deed het gebouwtje dienst als schaft- en bergplaatsgebouw voor de Afdeling Plantsoenen van de gemeente. Gebouwd in de stijl van de verstrakte Amsterdamse School. In oorsprong bevonden zich in het lager gelegen gedeelte een functionele 'luchtruimte' voor planten en gereedschap van de plantsoenendienst, en opslagruimte voor bestratingsmateriaal en een kleikist. Hetschaftlokaal en de toiletten bevonden zich op de verdieping.
In 1992 is het verbouwd tot een tweetal kantoor/werkruimte-units.
Omschrijving
Geheel vrijstaand houten dienstgebouw met één en deels twee sterk horizontaal gelede bouwlagen. Ontworpen op een rechthoekig grondplan. Op het platte dak van het hoger opgetrokken volume eengemetselde schoorsteen. Het lagere volume met de voormalige 'luchtruimte' heeft een flauw hellend schilddak met dekking van bitumen en leislag. De wanden van het lagere deel bestaan geheel uit een houten raster met de vierkante openingen. (In oorsprong zonder glas. Thans zijn de wanden gedicht ten behoeve van de kantoorruimte.) De recente openslaande deuren in de NO-gevel vervangen de grote openslaande toegang tot de vroegere 'luchtruimte'. Aan de ZO-zijde is de zij-ingang voor personen. Toegangsdeur met verdiepte rechthoekige velden en halfronde kolom. Gevels afgesloten met een brede omlopende geknikte lijst, die is ingestoken in het hogere bouwvolume. De wanden van het hogere volume zijn op de begane grond gemetseld. Boven de lijst zijn de wanden gepotdekseldmet 'western red cedar'- delen. De ZO-zijde bevat een toegangsdeur met zesruits venster en met vensters aan weerszijden. Vensters hebben negen-ruits roedenverdeling. Aan de ZW-zijde enkele acht-ruits vensters. Aan de NW-zijde venster in toegangsdeur. Boven de bakstenen gevelseen omlopende en geknikte lijst iets hoger dan bij het lagere volume. De verdieping van het hogere deel heeft in- en uitspringende plat afgedekte kubische bouwvolumes. De wanden zijn alle gepotdekseld en tegenwoordig groen gekleurd. Een aan drie zijden omlopende en wit gekleurde vensterpartij verbindt de samenstellende elementen. Sterkhorizontaal gelede roedenverdeling. Drie vensters per zijde met elk drievoudige roedenverdeling. Overhoeks geplaatstewitte delen met banden overeenkomstig de roedenverdeling.
Naast de brede vensters bevinden zch smalle vensters met twee boven elkaar staande ruiten met V-vormige roedenverdeling. Aan de ZW-zijde vensterpartij met vijf draairamen met zes-ruitsroedenverdeling. De drie samenstellende cubische elementen vande verdieping van het hogere gedeelte worden afgesloten dooreen brede convexe zinken daklijst.
Waardering
Voormalig dienstgebouw van de Plantsoenendienst in Tuindorp Oostzaan in Amsterdamse School-trant van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde. Description
Completely free-standing wooden service building with one and partly two strongly horizontally articulated storeys. Designed on a rectangular ground plan. On the flat roof of the higher volume a mortared chimney. The lower volume with the former 'air space' has a shallow pitched hipped roof with bitumen and slate covering. The walls of the lower section consist entirely of a wooden grid with square openings. (Originally without glazing. Now the walls are closed for office space.) The recent openings in the NE gable replace the large opening to the former 'air space'. On the SE side is the side entrance for people. Entrance door with recessed rectangular panels and semicircular column. Gables finished with a broad continuous bent moulding, which is set into the higher building volume. The walls of the higher volume are mortared on the ground floor. Above the moulding the walls are clad with 'western red cedar' boarding. The SE side contains an entrance door with six-light window and windows on both sides. Windows have nine-light glazing bar divisions. On the SW side several eight-light windows. On the NW side window in entrance door. Above the brick gable walls a continuous and bent moulding slightly higher than on the lower volume. The upper storey of the higher section has recessed and projecting flat-roofed cubic building volumes. The walls are all clad with boarding and currently coloured green. A window section running on three sides and coloured white connects the constituent elements. Strongly horizontal glazing bar divisions. Three windows per side each with triple glazing bar division. Diagonally placed white sections with bands corresponding to the glazing bar divisions.
Beside the wide windows there are narrow windows with two lights one above the other with V-shaped glazing bar divisions. On the SW side window section with five casement windows with six-light glazing bar division. The three constituent cubic elements of the upper storey of the higher section are finished with a broad convex zinc roof moulding.
