Description

Partly on a natural stone plinth, constructed in dark brown brick, a fully basement-vaulted pseudo-basilical cross church in neo-Gothic style with an extended south tower. The tall tower comprises four storeys, provided at the corners with buttresses that taper progressively, with one tall constricted eight-sided spire covered with slates. The tower is furnished with deeply recessed pointed arch-shaped windows with stained glass and sound holes. On the interior, the tower features striking brickwork consisting of curved triangles. The entrance is located on the dike and consists of a double oak door. In the wall below the tower is a stone mortared in which the text reads: "Templum hoc potissimum aedificatum est fidelium sumptibustuos Rev. pater J. van Sleeuwen centum viginti quinquedioceseos Harlemensis ecclesiis per tres annos concionandoipse atque colligendo comparavit". Interior

The 19th-century stained glass windows in the apse are signed by Van Soest and Willemse in Utrecht. In the long walls are 20th-century stained glass windows by Gisèle Waterschoot van de Gracht. The pulpit, the artificial stone altar and the pneumatic organ (partly) were built by Adema. The five 18th-century Station paintings by Adriaan van de Velde come from the former Augustinian hiding chapel 'De Star' on the Rusland. On the high altar are tiles painted with stencil motifs.
