The original school from 1897 consisted of the still-existing teacher's residence and a lower building immediately behind it containing, among other things, two classrooms. On 28 November 1921, D. Honingh and D.G. Kruse of The Association for Christian Education on Reformed Grounds were granted permission to extend the building. On 23 March 1922 construction began and on 16 October 1922 the building was completed. The contractor was Fa. J. Kaker from Zaandam. In 1985/1986 the central section - the old classrooms - was replaced by new construction. The rear section - the extension from 1922 - was renovated.

Further, two smaller buildings, a garage and a storage building for outdoor play equipment, were relocated.

Description

Teacher's residence Designed in 1897 on a rectangular ground plan, a teacher's residence under a gabled roof with red tiles, with one storey and roof space, constructed in timber. The facades are furnished with horizontal boarding with alternately white and narrower light-green painted sections. In the slightly projecting gable ends, the vertically placed sections on either side of the central field are of equal width. The east facade contains in the centre the former entrance section (now a double sash window) with a six-pane fanlight, surrounded by a red-painted moulding with profiled edge; in the cloverleaf-shaped spandrels three orange-red radial grooves. The roof space contains in the centre a two-light window in a moulding that swings out at the bottom, furnished with a plaque with the text 'Chr. Nat. School De Wegwijzer'. On either side, the central field contains horizontal boarding. Above this a triangular hood with red-orange painted sun rays and a sculptured central post, crowned by a carved top tie-beam with a diamond-shaped eye. On either side a paired window with shutters with red-white hourglass and each with nine-pane fanlights. In the centre of the south facade a window arrangement the same as in the front facade. Over the full width of this side facade below the overhanging gutter line on corbels a fluted lath frieze. The east facade is virtually blank and also contains a fluted lath frieze and gutter on corbels; furthermore a later added extension.
