Inleiding
Dubbel herenhuis, volgens gedenksteen in portiek nr. 9 in 1888 in opdracht van de Middelburgse bouw- en verhuurmaatschappij gebouwd. Uitgevoerd in eclectische stijl. Tegenwoordig in gebruik als kantoor.
Omschrijving
Twee en een halve verdieping met kelder en kapverdieping hoog, op rechthoekige plattegrond.
Symmetrische lijstgevel in roodbruine baksteen, voorzien van gepleisterde plint, speklagen, blokken, waterlijsten en gootconsoles.
Op begane grond geheel links en geheel rechts dezelfde soort ingangsportiek met rondboog en fronton; trapje van natuursteen; originele houten deur, bovenlicht. Per huis twee aangepaste H-type schuiframen, bekroond door gepleisterde blokken in de vorm van een hanekam.
Op verdieping per huis drie T-vensters op waterlijst, boogvormige bekroning met siermetselwerk in boogtrommels. Tweede verdieping voorzien van lage stolpramen op waterlijst. Hoofdgestel met fries met siermetselwerk en tegelwerk, consoles en overhangende kroonlijst.
Zadeldak gedekt met gesmoorde hollandse pannen; dakkapellen.
Sobere achtergevel.
In het interieur onder meer originele trappartij in zowel nr. 9 als in nr. 11; diverse stucwerk plafonds en schouwtjes.
Waardering
Dubbel herenhuis, van cultuur- architectuurhistorisch belang.

Symmetrical cornice-topped facade in red-brown brick, provided with rendered plinth, courses, blocks, drip mouldings and gutter brackets.
On the ground floor entirely on the left and entirely on the right the same type of entrance portico with round arch and pediment; step of natural stone; original wooden door, fanlight. Per house two adapted H-type sash windows, crowned by rendered blocks in the form of a rooster comb.
On the storey per house three T-windows on drip moulding, arched crowning with decorative brickwork in arch voussoirs. Second storey provided with low mansard windows on drip moulding. Main cornice with frieze with decorative brickwork and tilework, brackets and overhanging cornice.
Gabled roof covered with damped Dutch tiles; roof dormers.
Sober rear facade.
In the interior among other things original staircase in both no. 9 and no. 11; various stucco ceilings and small fire surrounds.
