Inleiding
Kerkgebouw van de Doopsgezinde Gemeente, in 1889 gebouwd naar ontwerp van architect K. Stoffels te 's-Gravenhage in een eclectisch-renaissancistische stijl. De in 1908 aan de achterzijde (Blindenhoek) aangebouwde consistorie valt buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Kerkgebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond met afgeschuinde hoeken bij koorgedeelte. Twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping hoog.
Afgeplat schilddak gedekt met gesmoorde tuile du nord pannen.
Gele en bruine baksteen, natuurstenen banden, lijsten, blokken, plint. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed met een licht risalerende middentravee met ingangspartij met dubbele houten deur met bovenlicht met glas-in-lood. Aan weerszijden van de ingang twee kleine venstertjes met gekleurd glas-in-lood.
Op verdieping drie grote rondboogvensters met middenstijlen van rode profielsteen, eveneens in rondboogvorm en gekleurd glas-in-lood. Gemetselde boogfriezen. Middentravee afgesloten door een topgevel met rozetvenster; zijtraveeën met kroonlijst op consoles. Kleine dakkapelletjes met luik en spits gedekt met leien.
Zijgevel (noord) vier traveeën breed met lisenen. Iedere travee met twee kleine gevelopeningen op begane grond en rondboogvenster met middenstijlen van rode profielsteen, eveneens in rondboogvorm en gekleurd glas-in-lood. Gemetseld tandfries en daarboven daklijst op gemetselde consoles. Zelfde gevelindeling aan oostzijde.
Origineel interieur met onder meer gepleisterde wanden, lisenen, lijsten; in zuidgevel raamvormen gepleisterd weergegeven; licht gebogen, gepleisterd plafond met vakverdeling. Aan westzijde tussenverdieping met balustrade, steunend op klassicistische gietijzeren zuiltjes. Hier bevindt zich het tweeklaviers orgel van Bakker en Timmenga uit 1890. In dit orgel zijn onderdelen van vorige orgels verwerkt, afkomstig uit de oude Doopsgezinde kerk aan de Hoogstraat 20 te Middelburg: registers van Moreau uit 1760, onderdelen van Preuniger en Mennes uit 1841 en van de orgelmaker W.H. Kam uit 1850 en 1856-1857.
Originele houten kerkbanken en spreekgestoelte. In entreeportaal gedenksteen met opschrift: Pieter de Maret Tak 19 januari 1889.

Church building on a rectangular floor plan with chamfered corners at the choir section. Two storeys and a roof storey high.
Flat hipped roof covered with smoked tuile du nord tiles.
Yellow and brown brick, ashlar bands, mouldings, blocks, plinth. The front facade is three bays wide with a slightly projecting central bay with entrance section with a double wooden door with fanlight with leaded glass. On either side of the entrance two small windows with coloured leaded glass.
On the first floor three large semicircular arch windows with red moulded brick mullions, also in semicircular form and with coloured leaded glass. Brick arch friezes. Central bay closed off by a peaked gable with rose window; side bays with cornice on brackets. Small roof dormers with hatch and spire covered with slate.
Side facade (north) four bays wide with pilasters. Each bay with two small openings on the ground floor and semicircular arch window with red moulded brick mullions, also in semicircular form and with coloured leaded glass. Brick tooth frieze and above that eaves on brick brackets. Same gable arrangement on the east side.
Original interior with among other things plastered walls, pilasters, mouldings; in the south facade window forms rendered; lightly curved plastered ceiling with bay divisions. On the west side intermediate storey with balustrade, supported on classical cast iron pilasters. Here is located the two-manual organ by Bakker and Timmenga from 1890. In this organ are incorporated components from previous organs, originating from the old Anabaptist church at Hoogstraat 20 in Middelburg: registers by Moreau from 1760, components by Preuniger and Mennes from 1841 and by the organ builder W.H. Kam from 1850 and 1856-1857.
Original wooden church benches and pulpit. In the entrance portal a commemorative stone with inscription: Pieter de Maret Tak 19 January 1889.
