The register's description

HOOFDGEBOUW (Rupelmonde).

Waardering

HOOFDGEBOUW (Rupelmonde) van algemeen belang:

- vanwege het in oorsprong 17de-eeuwse blokvormige hoofdgebouw, dat in 1768 met een koepelzaal uitgebreid is;

- vanwege de zandstenen decoraties van het exterieur in Lodewijk XV- en XVI-stijl;

- vanwege de zeldzaamheidswaarde van de koepelkamer;

- vanwege het 18de-eeuwse stucwerk van het interieur;

MAIN BUILDING (Rupelmonde). A block-shaped main building consisting of a seventeenth-century section of three storeys (adjoining the street) and an eighteenth-century section of two storeys (adjoining the Vecht) built of brick under a double hip roof covered with Tuile du Nord tiles. On the ridge ends four brick chimneys with later cornices. The rear section is wider than the front section. The front facade on the street side is formed by a central risalit with entrance feature from 1768 crowned by a triangular pediment in which a round window is set out decorated with garlands. The entrance feature consists of a twentieth-century entrance door above which a round-arched multi-light window (fenetre à terre) on the first floor is set in a natural stone frame. The entrance door is flanked by Ionic columns (from 1796) on which a Louis XVI-style railing rests. The framing of the window and the railing on the roof is executed in Louis XV-style. On both sides of the first-floor window an oeil de boeuf set in quatrefoil ornaments, which were added there around 1930 by the architect F.J.A. den Terc. On either side of the central risalit a window bay built up from three multi-light windows with shutters. Blocked corner pilasters. In the five-bay rear facade a central triangular projection (of the octagonal dome room) three bays wide crowned by a sandstone ornament of two blank alliance coats of arms and two reclining figures representing Neptune and Mercury. Above the cornice a railing in the form of an attic in Louis XV-style, identical to that of the front side. The window bays consist of two multi-light windows placed one above the other with venetian blinds. The middle bay is set in a sandstone frame. In the side facades of the front house two window bays consisting of three multi-light windows with shutters and a dormer. In the side facades of the rear house two window bays (two multi-light windows), of which the one on the west side is executed as blind. The north facade has two panel doors. In the recessed masonry between the front and rear sections a niche is recessed. The niche on the left side has a sandstone console-shaped underdorpel. In the INTERIOR the eighteenth-century stucco work in Louis XV-style is of importance.

Valuation

MAIN BUILDING (Rupelmonde) of general importance:

- because of the originally 17th-century block-shaped main building, which was extended in 1768 with a dome room;

- because of the sandstone decorations of the exterior in Louis XV and XVI-style;

- because of the rarity value of the dome chamber;

- because of the 18th-century stucco work of the interior;

- because of the functional-spatial relationship with the other components of the country estate.
