Inleiding
De KADEMUREN vanaf de spoorbrug tot en met het Pothoofd vormen een onderdeel van de totale zestiende- en zeventiende-eeuwse vesting Deventer, waarbij sprake is van een voor die periode typerende vestingaanleg met een rivierfront, waar ook een laad- en losplaats aanwezig was.
Omschrijving
In oorsprong zestiende-eeuwse kademuren met natuurstenen bekleding die in de zeventiende eeuw deels zijn verhoogd en deels vernieuwd. Aanwezig zijn onder meer nog natuurstenen restanten van de oorpronkelijke zestiende-eeuwse bekleding, een restant van gietijzeren hekwerk uit de negentiende eeuw en een jongere riooluitlaat met schuifconstructie. In het aanzicht van de muren is de historische ontwikkeling, onder meer door de aanwezigheid van verschillende soorten baksteen, duidelijk herkenbaar. Aan de Pothoofdzijde wordt de muur beëindigd door het restant van een ravelijn, herkenbaar als een vooruitstekende punt in de IJssel, lager dan de kademuur. De kademuren in hun huidige verschijningsvorm zijn een waardevol onderdeel van het historische riviergezicht van de stad Deventer.

Kademuren van algemeen belang vanwege
- de architectuurhistorische betekenis als goed voorbeeld van een gemetselde waterkering langs een rivier, tevens dienend als laad- en losplaats. De afleesbare historische ontwikkeling is kenmerkend voor dergelijke waterwerken langs rivieren;
- de stedenbouwkundige waarde als sterk beeldbepalend onderdeel van het bijzondere riviergezicht van Deventer.

Introduction
The QUAY WALLS from the railway bridge to and including the Pothoofd form a component of the total sixteenth- and seventeenth-century fortification of Deventer, which involves a fortification layout typical for that period with a river front, where a loading and unloading place was also present.
Description
Originally sixteenth-century quay walls with natural stone cladding which in the seventeenth century were in part heightened and in part renewed. Present are amongst others still natural stone remains of the original sixteenth-century cladding, a remnant of cast-iron railwork from the nineteenth century and a later sewer outlet with sliding construction. In the appearance of the walls the historical development is clearly recognisable, amongst other things through the presence of different types of brick. On the Pothoofd side the wall is terminated by the remnant of a ravelin, recognisable as a projecting point in the IJssel, lower than the quay wall. The quay walls in their present appearance are a valuable component of the historical river landscape of the city of Deventer.

Quay walls of general importance because of
- the architectural-historical significance as a good example of a mortared water defence along a river, also serving as a loading and unloading place. The legible historical development is characteristic of such water works along rivers;
- the urban planning value as a strongly image-determining component of the exceptional river landscape of Deventer.
