Inleiding
Gebouw, bestaande uit twee stilistisch gelijke, tweezijdig aangebouwde woonhuizen, omstreeks 1880 in zeer sobere neoclassicistische baksteenarchitectuur gebouwd in opdracht van de familie Dekker op eigen terrein van hun houthandel. Oorspronkelijk twee aparte woningen welke echter constructief tot hetzelfde bouwwerk behoren.
Omschrijving
Gebouw op nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond, bestaande uit een begane grondlaag en een verdieping onder een afgeknot schilddak. De voorgevel en de achtergevel zijn beide twee maal drie traveeën breed en uit rode baksteen opgetrokken. De scheiding in beide oorspronkelijke panden is in een bouwnaad in zowel voor- als achtergevel herkenbaar. Opvallend is dat het gevelmetselwerk van no. 9 wel doorloopt in de gevel van buurpand no. 11.
De voorgevel is zeer sober uitgevoerd en geplaatst op een gepleisterd plintje. De voorgevel wordt afgesloten door een, over de gehele gevelbreedte doorgaand hoofdgestel met in het fries boven de tweede en de vijfde travee licht- of ventilatieopeningen t.b.v. de zolder; de rechter opening is afgesloten door een gietijzeren rooster. De gevelopbouw is strak en klassiek. Op de begane grond een entreepartij in de derde en in de zesde travee en voorts vier licht getoogde houten kozijnen met 2x3 ruits schuiframen. De entreedeur in de derde travee is uitgevoerd met panelen en raampjes, voorzien van gietijzeren roosters; de entreedeur in de zesde travee met drie panelen. Op de verdieping zes schuiframen als op de begane grond.
De achtergevel bezit op de begane grond diverse aan- en uitbouwen en op de verdieping een gevelopbouw als de voorgevel. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde gootlijst. Het gehele gebouw is voorzien van één afgeknot schilddak, gedekt met gesmoorde kruispannen.
Het interieur is niet bij de beoordeling betrokken.
Waardering
Blok van oorspronkelijk twee woonhuizen, van algemeen belang vanwege architectuurhistorische waarde en samen met de buurpanden van ensemble waarde vanwege het belang voor het aanzien van dit stadsdeel.

Building on a virtually square ground plan, consisting of a ground floor and a first floor under a truncated hipped roof. The front facade and the rear facade are both two by three bays wide and built of red brick. The division between both original properties is recognizable in a construction joint in both the front and rear facades. Notable is that the facade brickwork of no. 9 does continue into the facade of neighbouring property no. 11.
The front facade is executed very austerely and placed on a plastered plinth. The front facade is terminated by a main cornice running the entire width of the facade with in the frieze above the second and fifth bay light or ventilation openings for the attic; the right opening is closed by a cast-iron grille. The facade composition is taut and classical. On the ground floor an entrance section in the third and sixth bay and furthermore four lightly arched wooden window frames with 2x3 pane sash windows. The entrance door in the third bay is executed with panels and window panes, furnished with cast-iron grilles; the entrance door in the sixth bay with three panels. On the first floor six sash windows as on the ground floor.
The rear facade has various annexes and extensions on the ground floor and on the first floor a facade composition as the front facade. The facade is terminated by a moulded gutter moulding. The entire building is provided with one truncated hipped roof, covered with burnt diagonal pantiles.
The interior has not been included in the assessment.
Valuation
Block of originally two residential houses, of general importance owing to architectural-historical value and together with neighbouring properties of ensemble value owing to the significance for the appearance of this city district.
