KAPELSTRAAT ZUID 8, MEERVELDHOVEN
Inleiding
Vrijstaande VILLA, gebouwd aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw in een traditionele stijl. Rond 1935 verbouwd door aannemer van Grootel in een zakelijke stijl naar voorbeelden van W.M. Dudok.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags pand met een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het geheel heeft witgepleisterde muren met een donkere plint, onder een plat dak met overstekende betonnen randen.
Aan de voorzijde springt het rechter gedeelte van de gevel iets naar voren. Hiertegen is een rechthoekige erker geplaatst. Tegen de zijgevel bevindt zich een bolle erker. Schuin daarboven is op de verdieping een balkon aangebracht dat bestaat uit een uitstekende betonnen plaat met een metalen hek bestaande uit enkele smalle buizen. Tegen deze zijgevel is, verder naar achteren toe, een aanbouw met garagepoort geplaatst.
De ingang is iets terugliggend geplaatst, onder een luifel. Erboven is een klein rond raam geplaatst.
De overige ramen zijn veelal groot en rechthoekig van vorm en hebben metalen kozijnen. Rechts van de ingang zijn bij de terrasdeuren en het raam in de zijgevel de oorspronkelijke kozijnen vervangen door kunststof.
De oorspronkelijke indeling van het huis is bewaard gebleven.
Het bordes voor de deur en het terras aan de voorzijde van het pand hebben een bestrating met cementtegels met polychroom bloemmotief. Rechts van het huis staat nog een kleine, éénlaagse garage onder plat dak. Het huis is voorzien van een tuin rondom.
Waardering
Het pand is van architectuurhistorisch belang als zeldzaam voorbeeld van het toepassen van een nieuw zakelijke stijl in deze regio.

Detached VILLA, built at the beginning of the twentieth century in a traditional style. Around 1935 remodelled by contractor van Grootel in a business-like style following examples by W.M. Dudok.
Description
Two-storey building with a rectangular floor plan. The whole has white-plastered walls with a dark plinth, under a flat roof with overhanging concrete edges.
On the front facade the right part projects slightly forward. Against this is placed a rectangular oriel. Against the side facade is a convex oriel. Diagonally above it on the upper storey a balcony has been constructed consisting of a projecting concrete slab with a metal railing made up of a few narrow tubes. Against this side facade, further back, an extension with a garage door has been placed.
The entrance is set slightly back, under an awning. Above it is a small circular window.
The remaining windows are mostly large and rectangular in shape and have metal frames. To the right of the entrance, at the terrace doors and the window in the side facade, the original frames have been replaced with plastic.
The original layout of the house has been preserved.
The platform in front of the door and the terrace on the front of the building have a paving of cement tiles with polychrome floral motif. To the right of the house stands a small, single-storey garage under a flat roof. The house is provided with a garden all around.
Valuation
The building is of architectural historical importance as a rare example of the application of a new business-like style in this region.
