Omschrijving
De voormalige MARECHAUSSEEKAZERNE en DIENSTWONINGEN vormen samen een L-vormig bouwvolume, dat in rode baksteen over twee bouwlagen is opgetrokken, met een drie bouwlagen hoge hoekpartij. In de hoek en een deel van de korte zuidelijke vleugel waren de bedrijfsruimten van de kazerne gesitueerd. Het geheel wordt afgedekt door zadeldaken met antracietgrijze Hollandse pannen en overstekende dakgoten. De nok van de lange vleugel staat haaks op de kappen van de hoekpartij en de korte vleugel. In de zijgevel (Z) van het hoekvolume zijn twee smalle verticale traplichten onder rondboogjes geplaatst. Onder eenzelfde enkel traplicht bevindt zich in de voorgevel (O) de ingang: een dubbele houten deur met bovenlicht, waartussen een luifel en waarboven een geprofileerd rechthoekig spaarveld. In de zuid- en oostgevel van de korte vleugel zijn op de hoek grote vensters met roedenverdeling geplaatst. De voorgevels van de vleugels (Z en O) zijn verder geleed door deuren met bovenlichten onder rondbogen en rechtgesloten vensters met bovenlichten.
Op de verdieping in de achtergevels (N en W) vensters met T-kozijnen. Van het interieur is onder meer de cel in de binnenhoek van het gebouw bewaard gebleven.
Waardering
Het bouwvolume met de marechausseekazerne en dienstwoningen is van cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang:

Description
The former CONSTABULARY BARRACKS and SERVANT'S HOUSES together form an L-shaped building volume, which is constructed in red brick over two storeys, with a three-storey high corner section. In the corner and part of the short southern wing were located the operational rooms of the barracks. The whole is covered by gabled roofs with anthracite-grey Dutch tiles and overhanging gutters. The ridge of the long wing stands at right angles to the hips of the corner section and the short wing. In the side facade (S) of the corner volume two narrow vertical stairwell lights are placed under round arches. Under a similar single stairwell light is located in the front facade (E) the entrance: a double wooden door with fanlight, between which a canopy and above which a moulded rectangular spandrel. In the south and east facades of the short wing large windows with glazing bars are placed at the corner. The front facades of the wings (S and E) are further articulated by doors with fanlights under round arches and straight-topped windows with fanlights.
On the upper storey in the rear facades (N and W) windows with cross windows. Of the interior the cell in the inner corner of the building has been preserved.
