Inleiding
Met elementen van de Chaletstijl omstreeks 1900 gebouwd LANDHUIS. Het landhuis is gesitueerd in een tuin met een parkachtige aanleg met gazons en groenaanplant. De bijbouwen aan de achterzijde van het landhuis zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het landhuis bestaat uit twee evenwijdige vleugels met een rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt door overstekende zadeldaken met kruispannen. Topgevels met opmerkelijke houtconstructies. De daken bevatten grote dakkapellen. Het pand is opgetrokken in baksteen voorzien van pleisterwerk. Op de zuidwesthoek is een dwarskap geplaatst en daarvoor een gietijzeren veranda. Via de veranda wordt de hoofdtoegang bereikt. De gevels zijn gekalkt. Op de noordhoek van het complex is een torentje uitgekraagd. Deze hoek bevat een andere verdiepingsindeling dan de rest van het gebouw. De zuidelijke vleugel had vroeger, identiek aan de oosthoek, een veranda in winkelhaakvorm: de afdekking van het noordelijke deel is rond 1960 bij de woning getrokken. Daarboven bevindt zich echter nog wel een oorspronkelijk balkon. In de achtergevel een loggia rustend op kolommen, en een decoratieve kroonlijst. Rechthoekige en segmentboogvormige houten vensters. Segmentboogvormige houten deur. Vensters in de eerste bouwlaag met een hardstenen omlijsting, vensters tweede bouwlaag met hardstenen dorpelstenen en lateien. Onder de dakrand diverse decoratieve consoles met bladmotief.
Waardering
Het landhuis aan de Klinkenberg is van streekgebonden architectuurhistorische waarde en is van belang vanwege de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van het ontwerp en wegens de bijzondere ornamentiek. Het pand bezit ensemblewaarde op grond van de situering in een parkachtige tuin en zijn betekenis voor het aanzien van dit gedeelte van Meerssen. Het landhuis is van algemeen belang wegens de redelijke mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de bovenregionale zeldzaamheid.

The country house consists of two parallel wings with a rectangular ground plan, has two storeys and is covered by overhanging gabled roofs with cross tiles. Gables with remarkable timber structures. The roofs contain large dormers. The building is constructed in brick provided with plasterwork. On the southwest corner a transverse gable is placed and before it a cast-iron veranda. Via the veranda the main entrance is reached. The facades are whitewashed. On the northeast corner of the complex a small tower is corbelled out. This corner contains a different storey arrangement than the rest of the building. The southern wing formerly had, identical to the east corner, a veranda in an L-shaped form: the covering of the northern part was drawn to the house around 1960. Above it, however, there is still an original balcony. In the rear facade a loggia resting on columns, and a decorative cornice. Rectangular and segment-arch shaped wooden windows. Segment-arch shaped wooden door. Windows in the first storey with a hard stone surround, windows second storey with hard stone sills and lintels. Below the roof edge various decorative brackets with leaf motif.
Valuation
The country house on the Klinkenberg is of regional architectural-historical value and is of importance owing to the high quality of the design and owing to the particular ornamentation. The building possesses group value on the grounds of the situation in a park-like garden and its significance for the appearance of this part of Meerssen. The country house is of general importance owing to the reasonable degree of architectural integrity of the exterior and the supra-regional rarity.
