Inleiding
Met elementen van het Eclecticisme in 1865 gebouwd halfvrijstaand voormalig GEMEENTEHUIS van Geulle. Het gemeentehuis werd in 1865 gebouwd in opdracht van het gemeentebestuur van de voormalige gemeente Geulle onder voorzitterschap van burgemeester H.J. Vijgen.
De aanbouwen aan de achtergevel zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het voormalig gemeentehuis van Geulle heeft een in de lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt door een zadeldak met pannen. Het dak is voorzien van enkele dakkapellen van recentere datum. Het pand is opgetrokken in baksteen voorzien van pleisterwerk. De frontgevel is een zeven assen brede symmetrische bakstenen lijstgevel met een middenrisaliet met een flauwe topgevel waarin een oculusvenster. In de eerste bouwlaag segmentboogvormige houten vensters en in de tweede bouwlaag rondboogvormige houten vensters. De segmentboogvensters op de begane grond hebben gepleisterde profiellijsten. De bovenlichten van de vensters in de tweede bouwlaag zijn voorzien van geprofileerde gepleisterde lijsten. Het kalf wordt geaccentueerd door een gepleisterde waterlijst. Op de hoeken van de gevel zijn pilasters aangebracht en onder de goot een boogfries. Interieur gewijzigd, overigens niet beschermenswaardig.
Waardering
Het voormalig gemeentehuis van Geulle is cultuurhistorisch van belang als een bijzondere uitdrukking van een bestuurlijke ontwikkeling. Het pand bezit streekgebonden architectuurhistorische waarde en is van belang vanwege de esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp en de bijzondere ornamentiek. Het object bezit ensemblewaarde vanwege zijn situering aan het Kerkplein, naast de Rooms Katholieke kerk die reeds rijksbeschermd is, in de oude kern van het dorp Geulle. Het voormalige gemeentehuis is tenslotte van algemeen belang op grond van de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de bovenregionale zeldzaamheid.

The former town hall of Geulle has a rectangular ground plan positioned lengthwise, has two storeys and is covered by a gabled roof with tiles. The roof is provided with a few dormers of more recent date. The building is constructed in brick provided with plasterwork. The front facade is a seven-bay wide symmetrical brick cornice-topped facade with a central risalit with a shallow gable in which an oculus window. In the first storey segment-arch shaped wooden windows and in the second storey round-arch shaped wooden windows. The segment-arch windows on the ground floor have plastered moulded profiles. The fanlights of the windows in the second storey are provided with profiled plastered mouldings. The central section is accentuated by a plastered drip moulding. On the corners of the facade pilasters are placed and beneath the eaves an arch frieze. Interior modified, otherwise not worthy of protection.
Valuation
The former town hall of Geulle is of cultural-historical importance as a particular expression of an administrative development. The building possesses regional architectural-historical value and is of importance owing to the aesthetic quality of the design and the particular ornamentation. The object possesses group value owing to its situation on the Kerkplein, next to the Roman Catholic church which is already nationally protected, in the old core of the village of Geulle.
