Inleiding
Voormalige MINERAALWATERFABRIEK, gebouwd in het vierde kwart van 19de eeuw. Het op de hoek van de Buijskesweg en het Zuiderkerkplein (ten zuiden van de Zuiderkerk) gelegen object is opgetrokken in een schilderachtige chaletstijl. De oostzijde is aangebouwd tegen het belendende pand op nummer 1. De achterzijde (Z) van het object is door een aantal aanbouwen van latere datum gewijzigd. De wijzigingen hebben het monumentale karakter van het pand evenwel niet geschaad.
NB. Alle later toegevoegde onderdelen vallen buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Voormalige mineraalwaterfabriek op samengestelde plattegrond, bestaande uit een rechthoekig oostelijk en een vierkant westelijk deel. Het oostelijk bouwvolume bestaat uit begane grond, verdieping en kapverdieping onder grotendeels overstekend zadeldak. Het overstekende zadeldak is aan de voorzijde (N), tussen de windveren, voorzien van houtwerk met een klavervormige uitsparing. Het westelijk bouwvolume bestaat ter linkerzijde uit begane grond en een evenwijdig aan de straat lopend zadeldak met driehoekige dakkapel van klein formaat. Ter rechterzijde bestaat het westelijk bouwvolume uit begane grond en kapverdieping onder een overstekend schilddak dat aan de voorzijde (N) uitloopt in een zadeldakeinde. Het zadeldakeinde is, net als voornoemd overstekend zadeldak, via houten stijlen verbonden met de vakwerkgevel. Aan de bovenzijde heeft het zadeldakeinde een overhangende pandekte kap met terra cotta piron. De daken zijn grotendeels bedekt met zwarte en rode kruispannen in getand patroon.
Het muurwerk is opgebouwd uit wit gepleisterde baksteen met een houten vakwerkdetaillering. De kapverdiepingen van de beide bouwvolumen zijn aan de voorzijde (N) gedeeltelijk bekleed met houten delen.
Het oostelijk bouwvolume heeft aan de voorzijde (N) op zowel begane grond als verdieping twee vensters met bovenlicht. Op de kapverdieping bevindt zich een houten deur met rond glaspaneel. De rechterzijde (W) van het oostelijk bouwvolume is, voor zover zichtbaar, blind.
Het linker deel van het westelijk bouwvolume heeft aan de voorzijde op de begane grond een deuropening met een uit twee vensters bestaand bovenlicht. Het rechter deel van het oostelijk bouwvolume heeft op de begane grond vier vensters met bovenlicht en op de kapverdieping, boven de twee meest centrale vensters op de begane grond, bevindt zich een dubbele houten deur met twee glaspanelen. De rechtergevel (W) van het westelijk bouwvolume is blind.
Waardering
De voormalige mineraalwaterfabriek is van algemeen belang uit architectuur- en cultuurhistorisch oogpunt als een vrijwel gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een kleinschalig industrieel gebouw uit het vierde kwart van de 19de eeuw, uitgevoerd in chaletstijl met gebruik van een vakwerkconstructie.

Introduction
Former MINERAL WATER FACTORY, built in the fourth quarter of the 19th century. The object, located on the corner of the Buijskesweg and the Zuiderkerkplein (to the south of the Zuiderkerk), is constructed in a picturesque chalet style. The east side is built against the adjoining property at number 1. The rear (S) of the object has been altered by a number of later additions. However, these alterations have not compromised the monumental character of the building.

Description
Former mineral water factory on a composite floor plan, consisting of a rectangular eastern and a square western part. The eastern building volume consists of a ground floor, first floor and attic storey under a largely overhanging gabled roof. The overhanging gabled roof is provided on the front (N), between the wind braces, with timber work featuring a quatrefoil opening. The western building volume consists on the left side of a ground floor and a gabled roof running parallel to the street with a small triangular roof dormer. On the right side, the western building volume consists of a ground floor and attic storey under an overhanging hipped roof that runs out on the front (N) into a gable roof end. The gable roof end is, like the aforementioned overhanging gabled roof, connected via wooden posts to the timber-framed gable. At the top, the gable roof end has an overhanging pantile capping with terracotta tiles. The roofs are largely covered with black and red cross pantiles in a toothed pattern.
The masonry is constructed from white-rendered brickwork with timber-frame detailing. The attic storeys of both building volumes are partially clad with timber on the front (N).
The eastern building volume has two windows with fanlights on both the ground floor and first floor on the front (N). On the attic storey there is a wooden door with a round glass panel. The right side (W) of the eastern building volume is, insofar as visible, blank.
The left part of the western building volume has a doorway with a fanlight consisting of two windows on the ground floor on the front. The right part of the eastern building volume has four windows with fanlights on the ground floor and on the attic storey, above the two most central windows on the ground floor, there is a double wooden door with two glass panels. The right gable (W) of the western building volume is blank.
Valuation
The former mineral water factory is of general importance from an architectural and cultural historical perspective as a virtually intact example of a small-scale industrial building from the fourth quarter of the 19th century, executed in chalet style with the use of a timber-frame construction.
