Aan de westzijde van de sluis tussen de Oude Haven en de Buitenhaven gelegen RIJKSGETIJMETER, daterend uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw.
Omschrijving
Rijksgetijmeter op vierkant grondplan, bestaande uit één bouwlaag. De rijksgetijmeter staat op een grijze bakstenen onderbouw met kelderruimte. Het muurwerk van de rijksgetijmeter is, behoudens de decoratie, opgebouwd uit rode baksteen op een natuurstenen plint.
De rijksgetijmeter heeft aan alle zijden hoeklisenen met daartussen een boogfries. Boven de boogfriezen met gele baksteen ter decoratie bevinden zich de rondomgaande natuurstenen waterlijst en een attiek. De attiek, met natuurstenen bekroning, heeft aan alle zijden een natuurstenen spaarveld. In het spaarveld aan de voorzijde (O) bevindt zich de functieduidende tekst 'RIJKS GETIJMETER'.
De voorzijde (O) heeft een houten deur met bovenlicht. De rechter- (N) en de linkerzijde (Z) hebben een houten schuifvenster met T-profiel. Het venster aan de linkerzijde (Z) heeft een bakstenen dorpel. De achterzijde (W) is blind.

Description
Tide gauge station on a square ground plan, consisting of one storey. The tide gauge station stands on a grey brick substructure with cellar space. The masonry of the tide gauge station is, except for the decoration, constructed in red brick on a natural stone plinth.
The tide gauge station has corner pilasters on all sides with an arch frieze between them. Above the arch friezes with yellow brick for decoration are the all-around natural stone drip moulding and an attic. The attic, with natural stone coping, has on all sides a natural stone spandrel. In the spandrel on the front side (O) is the function-indicating text 'RIJKS GETIJMETER'.
The front side (O) has a wooden door with fanlight. The right (N) and left side (S) have a wooden sash window with T-profile. The window on the left side (S) has a brick sill. The rear side (W) is blind.
Valuation
The tide gauge station is of general interest from an architectural and cultural-historical point of view as a well-preserved example of water authority architecture from the second half of the 19th century.
