Inleiding
In vakwerkbouw, met elementen van chaletstijl gebouwde GYMNASTIEKZAAL, 1885. De gymnastiekzaal is vrijstaand gesitueerd op de binnenplaats van het pand genaamd Hof van Tilly dat gelegen is aan de Grote Gracht en reeds rijksbescherming geniet.
Omschrijving
De voormalige gymnastiekzaal heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met zadeldaken met leien. Dak voorzien van aanzienlijke overstekken en bakgoten rustend op een chaletachtige constructie met zes jukken. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen, gemetseld in halfsteens verband. Hout en smeedijzer. Rechthoekige houten kruiskozijnen met roedeverdeling. Opgeklampte deuren.
Vrijstaand gymnastiekgebouw in de vorm van een grote zaal, voorzien van een uitbouw onder dezelfde kap. In deze uitbouw waren de kleedruimtes ondergebracht. De kopgevels kenmerken zich door een centraal geplaatste, dubbele houten deur waarboven zich grote dubbele kruiskozijnen met kleine roedeverdeling bevinden. In de uitbouw een enkelvoudige rechthoekige deur. Het geheel is uitgevoerd in een vakwerkbouw met rechthoekige en diagonale houtverbindingen, waartussen de gevelvelden zijn gevuld met baksteen in halfsteens metselverband, inclusief schuin geplaatste rollagen. Smeedijzeren sierbeslag op de bakgoot met klossen en de deuren.
Van het INTERIEUR is onder meer van belang: plafond met houten betimmering; originele houten spantconstructie.

De voormalige gymnastiekzaal op binnenterrein achter het pand Grote Gracht 90 is van cultuurhistorische waarde als zeer bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling.
