Inleiding
R.K. KERK van de parochie St.Petrus Banden te Heer-Maastricht.
Neo-romaanse kruisbasiliek uit 1905, gebouwd in opdracht van bouwpastoor A. de Wever, naar een ontwerp van architect Caspar Franssen te Roermond. Het interieur, waaronder het oorspronkelijke altaar, werd in 1969 aangepast aan de nieuwe liturgische eisen. De interieurschildering dateert uit 1986.
Omschrijving
Neo-romaanse kruisbasiliek met tweelingtoren, aan de zuidzijde voorzien van een zijkapel, aan de noordzijde van een traptoren. Twee zijbeuken tussen de kruisarmen en de torens, ronde absis geflankeerd door twee kranskapellen, een sacristie dwars op de noordelijke kruisarm. Bakstenen optrek, gemetseld in kruisverband, met hardstenen plinten en dorpels.
Alle gevelvelden geleed door middel van lisenen, uitlopend in kroonlijsten met rondboogfriezen. Steunberen. Zadel-, tent- en lessenaarsdaken met leien in Maasdekking, dakkapellen en bakgoten.
Ronde en rondboogvormige stalen vensters. Rechthoekige houten entreedeuren met smeedijzeren beslag in decoratieve rondboogvormige lijsten, waarin hardstenen zuilen met teerlingkapitelen in mergel, mergelvulstukken voorzien van ornamenten. Deze zijn gesitueerd in het voorportaal van het kerkschip en in de iets terugliggende torens.
In het INTERIEUR zijn onder meer van belang de vijf glas-in-lood vensters van het koor, vervaardigd door P. Nicolas & Zn. te Roermond, geschonken door de Burggravin Mathilde du Parc; de glas-in-lood vensters van Hub. Levigne; de twee glas-in-lood vensters in het voorportaal, geschonken door de communicanten van 1906 en 1907; de zwart granieten zuilen, met geornamenteerde vergulde teerlingkapitelen; doopvont en altaren van de zijkapellen, bestaand uit onderdelen van het oorspronkelijke hoogaltaar, met altaarstukken van Charles Vos. Het orgel met Grand d'Orgue, positief en aangehangen pedaal, in 1850 gemaakt door Pereboom, in 1971 gerestaureerd door Verschueren Orgelbouw.

Description
Neo-romanesque cruciform basilica with twin tower, furnished on the south side with a side chapel, on the north side with a stair tower. Two side aisles between the transepts and the towers, round apse flanked by two radiating chapels, a sacristy transverse to the northern transept. Brick structure, laid in English bond, with hardstone plinths and thresholds.
All façade fields articulated by means of pilasters, terminating in cornices with round-arched friezes. Buttresses. Gabled, pyramidal and lean-to roofs with slate in Maas laying, roof dormers and lead gutters.
Round and round-arched steel windows. Rectangular wooden entrance doors with decorative wrought-iron fittings in decorative round-arched mouldings, in which hardstone columns with cube capitals in marl, marl infill pieces decorated with ornaments. These are situated in the vestibule of the church nave and in the slightly recessed towers.
In the INTERIOR are included among others five stained glass windows of the choir, manufactured by P. Nicolas & Son in Roermond, donated by the Burgravine Mathilde du Parc; the stained glass windows by Hub. Levigne; the two stained glass windows in the vestibule, donated by the communicants of 1906 and 1907; the black granite columns, with ornamented gilded cube capitals; baptismal font and altars of the side chapels, consisting of components of the original high altar, with altarpieces by Charles Vos. The organ with Grand d'Orgue, positive and attached pedal, made in 1850 by Pereboom, restored in 1971 by Verschueren Organ-builders.
