Inleiding
DIRECTEURSWONING, 1907, in eclectische stijl met overwegende invloeden van Jugendstil, halfvrijstaand in de lineaire bebouwing van de Bosscherweg. Het huis werd gebouwd in opdracht van directeur De Vries van de inmiddels afgebroken naburige leerlooierij.
Omschrijving
Halfvrijstaande directeurswoning met souterrain, twee bouwlagen en zolderverdieping op rechthoekige plattegrond in dwarsrichting.
De woning wordt grotendeels gedekt door een mansardedak met shingles; het voorgevelrisaliet loopt uit in een torenachtige kap. Smeedijzeren nokversiering met vaantje en datering "Anno 1907". Dakkapellen met klauwstukken. Oeuil de boeuf-dakkapel. Twee dakkapellen op het zijdakvlak. Bakgoten op consoles. De achterbouw is voorzien van een plat dak met terras en balustrade.
Asymmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel, gedomineerd door breed risaliet met erker. Geprofileerde breukstenen plint met hardstenen lijst en kelderluik. De rode bakstenen optrek van de voorgevel is voorzien van natuurstenen speklagen met diamantkoppen, strekken boven vensters en deur, aanzetstenen, sluitstenen met mascarons, een gestileerde hardstenen deurlatei, geornamenteerde hardstenen raamdorpels en een kroonlijst. De aanzienlijke vijfkante erker met balkon is voorzien van geel siermetselwerk in blokverband, plus een balkon met gestileerde smeedijzeren balustrade. Rechthoekige houten paneeldeur met accolade-geleding in het glas-in-lood bovenlicht. Rechthoekige houten zijvensters in de erker met accolade-geleding in de glas-in-lood bovenlichten. Rondboogvormige houten vensters, rondboogvormige dubbele houten balkondeur en erkervenster met boogvormige geleding. In dit erkervensters zijn de glas-in-lood bovenlichten deels vervangen door een houten beschot.
Zij- en achtergevel zijn geheel opgetrokken in grauwbruine baksteen. De zijgevel is onregelmatig ingedeeld. Segmentboogvormige T-vensters, hardstenen dorpels. Twee vensterassen in het woongedeelte, één as in het trappenhuis, één as in de achterbouw onder plat. Vensterstrekken. De achtergevel telt twee vensterassen met segmentboogvormige houten T-vensters in de tweede laag, een segmentboogvormig dubbel houten kruiskozijn plus een segmentboogvormige dubbele houten achterdeur met zesruitsbovenlicht in de eerste laag. Deze deur is bereikbaar via een trappartij met smeedijzeren balustrade. In de deels blootgelegde en gecementeerde souterrainverdieping is een segmentboogvormige dubbele houten deur geplaatst.
Rond de voortuin staat een smeedijzeren hekwerk op een gecementeerd basement met ezelsrug, plus een dubbel smeedijzeren hekwerk tussen twee bakstenen hekpilaren met natuurstenen speklagen en vaasbekroning. De achtertuin wordt omgeven door een bakstenen muur, de toegang tot de achtertuin is afgesloten door een recente muur met poort.
In het zeer gave INTERIEUR is de indeling volledig intact gebleven en bevinden zich onder meer de volgende waardevolle onderdelen: schuifdeuren tussen de woonvertrekken op de begane grond, onder andere met geëtste glaspanelen; paneeldeuren in lijsten; diverse marmeren haardlijsten; plafonds met deels houten lijsten en gestucte ornamenten; plankenvloeren; veelkleurige, geornamenteerde tegelvloer in de gang; gangbogen met teerlingkapitelen, voorzien van bloemmotieven; dubbele gangdeuren met Jugendstiltraceringen en geornamenteerde kozijnstijlen, ingevuld met rood-groen-wit glas-in-lood; kersehouten trappehuis met bewerkte balusters; keuken met blauwwitte tegellambrizering en schouwbetegeling.
Waardering
De halfvrijstaande directeurswoning is van cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door de bouwstijl van het pand, de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteit van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek.
Het pand is een belangrijk onderdeel van de wijk Boschpoort, is vanwege de situering verbonden met de ontwikkeling van stad en wijk en van bijzonder belang voor het aanzien van de wijk.

The residence is largely covered by a mansard roof with shingles; the front facade risalit terminates in a tower-like roof. Wrought-iron roof ridge ornaments with weathervane and dating "Anno 1907". Roof dormers with knee braces. Oeil de boeuf roof dormer. Two roof dormers on the side roof plane. Gutters on consoles. The rear building is provided with a flat roof with terrace and balustrade.
Asymmetrically arranged front facade, dominated by broad risalit with bay window. Profiled ashlar plinth with sandstone string course and basement door. Round the front garden stands wrought-iron fencing on a cemented basement with hogback, plus a double wrought-iron fence between two brick gateposts with natural stone courses and urn finials. The rear garden is surrounded by a brick wall, the access to the rear garden is closed off by a recent wall with gate.
In the very well-preserved INTERIOR the layout remains completely intact and contains among others the following valuable components: sliding doors between the rooms on the ground floor, inter alia with etched glass panels; panelled doors in surrounds; various marble chimneypieces; ceilings with partly wooden mouldings and stucco ornaments; wooden plank floors; multicoloured, ornamented tiled floor in the hallway; hallway arches with bead capitals, provided with floral motifs; double hall doors with Art Nouveau tracery and ornamented frame stiles, filled with red-green-white leaded light; cherry wood staircase with worked balusters; kitchen with blue-white tiled wainscoting and fireplace tiling.
